HR and Recruitment Assistant

Start Date: January 2024

Reports to: Head of HR Operations

Working location: Option to work from Cape Town (Head Office)/remotely within South Africa

Contract Length: 1 Year *with the possibility to extend based on operational needs

Your mission:

The goal of the HR & Recruitment Assistant is to assist with HR operations and support the broader People Team with day to day responsibilities.

What you will do

Recruitment

  • Assist with the pre-employment processes.
  • Post new positions on various career sites.
  • Sort incoming resumes and log them into appropriate tracking spreadsheets.
  • Assist with coordinating candidate interviews and other verification checks.
  • Assist with performing reference and background checks.

Onboarding and Terminations

  • Assist with the administration of new joiners and leavers.

Project Management and Reporting

  • Update weekly/monthly HR submissions, recruitment and IR trackers ad-hoc HR projects as needed.

Payroll

  • Assist with tracking employee movements and monthly amendments on payroll.

HR Compliance

  • Regularly update and maintain the HR information database.
  • Update the organisation organogram monthly
  • Address employee queries with the guidance of the Head of HR Operations.
  • Assist Head of HR with statutory reporting and other ad-hoc data and compliance tasks
  • Develop and maintain HR compliance knowledge

General Admin

  • Ad-hoc office management duties with the guidance of the Head of HR Operations.

What you will need

  • Industrial Psychology/HR Management/Labour Relations Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • 1  year + experience in HR and Recruitment
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the BCEA, LRA, EEA, OHSA and other labour related Acts and regulations
  • Proficient in GoogleWorkspace
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills
  • Proactivity with the ability to take initiative

The extra shine:

  • While not a must, it is advantageous if you are based in Cape Town and are willing to travel to our office in Tokai
  • Experience with reporting analytics
