Health & Safety Manager

Health & Safety Manager - Full Time, Permanent

SkyFire Energy is looking for a well-rounded individual to become part of our solar team as a Health & Safety Manager in Calgary, AB. This individual will be self-motivated, energetic, personable, and excited to work as part of a fast-growing company in the solar industry.

Primary duties include:

  • Maintain SkyFire’s Health and Safety Program
  • Review existing policies and procedures and make improvements as necessary
  • Weekly review of field operation safety forms
  • Record keeping and incident investigation
  • Maintaining records with multiple online safety program platforms
  • Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics
  • Work with HR on employee safety onboarding
  • Prepare and run monthly company-wide safety meetings
  • Co-chair the OH&S committee
  • Identify process bottlenecks and offer timely solutions
  • Oversee workplace repairs, installations, and any other work that could affect employee safety
  • Management of employee safety certifications and renewals
  • Liaison with the Operations Team to provide safety updates and process improvement recommendations
  • Development and management of the Safety Rewards program
  • Overseeing fleet maintenance

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role
  • COR management training through AASP or ACSA
  • Joint Work Site Health and Safety Committee training
  • Incident investigations certificate
  • COR audit training
  • Excellent knowledge of legislation and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
  • Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
  • Proficient in MS Office and/or Google Suite
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Must be comfortable working at heights for occasional site inspections
  • Must be willing to travel to sites for safety inspections
  • Class 5 license with a clean driving record

Assets(but not required):

  • Working experience with SiteDocs
  • Knowledge of ISnet, AVETTA
  • Electrical trades experience
  • Fall protection/training certification
