Global Operations Africa is a team of about 25 professional staff dispersed in the US and Africa. We Leverage the power of the network to establish operational and technical excellence in and beyond market to achieve positive and scaled consumer powered primary health care outcomes. Our key pillars include building and supporting a strong network of professionals, building depth in decision making power and authority, streamlining processes and systems, catalyzing with Technology, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
PSI seeks a Head, Program Management that will Lead team of professional program management staff that provide operational support to PSI platforms and global projects to ensure PSI countries and programs have the data needed to ensure that programs are delivered on time, in compliance with donor regulation, and within budget. Ensure countries and programs have the appropriate level of program management support.
Your contributions
-Manages a team of program management staff responsible for project life cycle management and coordination including project start-up, budgeting, sub award management, compliance, and project close-out. Engages directly with internal clients to ensure that project management needs are being achieved, including providing the appropriate tools, data, and level of support personnel needed to ensure platforms and projects deliver quality results, on-time, and within budget. 30% of the Time
-Manages and develops directly and indirectly project management professionals. Responsible for resource mobilization and ensuring a pipeline of performance management talent are available to appropriately staff a complex variety of program needs including expertise with both USG (United States federal Government) and non-USG regulations, language skills, and ability to manage operations in international and often difficult operating environments. 20% of the Time
-Manages and mitigates risk by contributing to PSI's global policies, strategies and systems related to country, regional and global operations, developing and managing appropriate governance structures for country programs, and working closely with our Global Internal Audit and Field Finance teams to apply appropriate internal controls. 20% of the Time
-Collaborates with the OpEx and Nairobi team to promote and ensure SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are applied consistently and raises opportunities for continuous process improvement and risk reduction. 10% of the Time
-Assists in building, maintaining, and /or strengthening donor relations by resolving complex contractual challenges. 10% of the Time
-Contributes to revenue generation by ensuring overflow resourcing for proposal development and budget development. 10% of the Time

What are we looking for?
-Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) in a related field
-Master’s Degree (or international equivalent) in a related field (e.g., MBA, MPA, MPH) preferred
-At least 10 years of related experience
-At least 5 years of supervisory experience
-Deep understanding of the full award life cycle management (start-up to close-out) and supporting country operations in a donor funded environment, preferably in the fields of global health or communications.
-Extensive knowledge of USG (United States federal Government) and other non-USG donor regulations.
-Previous country leadership experience is preferred.
-Knowledge of best practices and use and implementation of project management tools and frameworks. PMI or other Professional Program Management certification preferred.
-Demonstrated experience in government and donor relations and collaboration.
-Significantly demonstrated leadership and passion for building high performing teams.
-Fluency in English with excellent writing skills. Foreign language skills preferred depending on portfolio.
