Instill Education is on a mission to transform teaching, learning, and leadership in every classroom on the African continent. We believe our teachers and school leaders are the greatest levers for change in the education system. We recently became an accredited higher education institution in South Africa and launched a game-changing mobile app that offers self-paced, bite-sized modules to help teachers in their professional development journey. More than 50,000 teachers in South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria have already enrolled in our professional development modules and joined a pan-African community of peers and experts who provide support and feedback along the way. We are currently applying for institutional accreditation in Ghana to launch Instill College of Education to start a bachelor of basic education programme.

We are hiring a Head of Student Affairs to ensure that we can provide a rigorous and supportive learning environment for student teachers in Ghana.

What does the role entail?

As the Head of Student Affairs, you will be responsible for leading students' overall well-being and development, overseeing student life, counseling services, and disciplinary matters. You will work closely with the Dean of Academics to ensure a holistic approach to student success.

More specifically you will;

  • Oversee the provision of student support services, including academic advising, counseling, and career guidance.
  • Establish and maintain a welcoming and inclusive campus environment.
  • Develop and implement programs to enhance student engagement and satisfaction.
  • Enforce student conduct codes and disciplinary procedures.
  • Respond to student concerns and complaints in a timely and effective manner.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to address student behavioural concerns.
  • Support student organisations and clubs, fostering a vibrant campus community.
  • Organise and oversee extracurricular activities, such as cultural events, sports, and community service.
  • Encourage student involvement in leadership roles and volunteer opportunities.
  • Promote student health and well-being through programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to offer health services and counseling.
  • Address issues related to mental health, stress management, and substance abuse.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including academic transcripts and disciplinary records.
  • Utilise student information systems to track student progress and generate reports.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations.

Selection Criteria:

  • Master's or advanced degree in higher education administration, counseling, or a related field.
  • Commitment to providing excellent student-centric service.
  • Significant experience in student affairs and higher education.
  • Strong understanding of student development theories and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Commitment to student success and well-being.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.

Anticipated start date: 1 January 2025
