Background
E3G is establishing a Programme Management Office (PMO) to provide efficient and effective management of programme and project functions across E3G. We are recruiting a Head of Programme Management Office to establish and lead this function together with a number of programme manager roles to support our programmes working on:
The PMO team will report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) but have key matrix management relationships with the Associate Directors responsible for the programmes and day-to-day delivery partnership relationships with their Programme Leaders, as well as with our central grant management and finance staff.
We are open to the positions being located in any of our UK, Belgian, German or US offices, but subject to hybrid working patterns. We would prefer the Head of PMO to be UK based.
We are looking for applicants who have worked in a knowledge-driven (e.g. consulting, think-tank, academic), international project environment. Resonance with E3G’s mission is important. Climate change or sustainability experience would be desirable, but not essential.
The Role
Our Programme Management Office (PMO) will be responsible for the setup, monitoring and tracking of multiple workstreams across our programme portfolio.
As the Head of PMO, you will be working closely with our COO and Programme Teams formulating, executing and monitoring key processes that govern our grant funded programmes and organisational development & change.
The PMO will be at the heart of how we deliver high-quality outcomes for our funders and for further improving our KPIs in collaboration with our Senior Management Team.
You will be E3G’s ‘programme and project champion’, coaching stakeholders on core disciplines leading to continuous improvement and positive change.
Key responsibilities:
Lead the design and set-up of E3G’s programme management office, establishing the PMO as a central function within E3G.
Ongoing management and continuous improvement of the PMO, ensuring that E3G has the project management capabilities to deliver large complex projects across our internal operations and strategic implementation.
Lead capacity building to strengthen programme/ project management capabilities across the organisation.
Lead the ongoing development of E3G’s programme/ project management model and toolkit.
Establish a consistent approach to oversight and performance reporting of largescale projects.
Maintain oversight of live projects and provide regular performance reports to senior management.
Line manage pool of programme managers in a matrix structure.
Resource planning and deployment of project managers to projects, working closely with colleagues across E3G to understand need for project management support.
Work closely with colleagues across teams to ensure that robust programme/ project management principles are embedded in key processes (e.g. programme development and mobilisation).
Act as project management coach and advisor for team and senior colleagues across E3G.
