Job Overview
The Head of Insurance Services expands Shorelight’s client base of international students at universities across the US and is an integral part of the Student Success Solutions team. He/She/They is a Massachusetts-licensed insurance producer permitted to offer life & health and property & casualty products, who will help build a new insurance product and services division at Shorelight. The Head of Insurance Services offers insurance plans to new universities, extends plans to existing students, and cultivates lasting relationships with our clients, which results in reaching company revenue goals. A deep understanding of insurance products, services, and compliance is crucial. The Head of Insurance Services will serve as the Designated Responsible Licensed Producer for our new licensed entity, Shorelight Insurance Services, LLC. This role reports to the General Manager, Student Success Solutions.

The Head of Insurance Services is a dynamic team player and a strategic thinker with the dual capacity to see the big picture and attend to details. He/She/They is/are comfortable multitasking, adjusts quickly to shifting priorities, and manages time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Student Health Insurance
- Design, develop, and implement comprehensive international student insurance programs
- Collaborate with top-ranked American universities to sell the Shorelight Health Insurance plan and secure the sale
- Manage the re-enrollment strategy and oversee the collection of premiums across all accounts
- Provide expert advice to international students on health insurance options, ensuring coverage aligns with their unique needs
- Facilitate enrollment processes, including communication with students and coordination with insurance providers
Additional Insurance Products
- Develop and maintain a portfolio of insurance products, including personal property, renter's, traveler's insurance, and essential insurance options for international students
- Help create materials to educate students about the importance and benefits of various insurance products beyond health insurance
- Educate our teams on the best way to guide students in selecting and customizing insurance plans according to their personal circumstances
Compliance and Reporting
- Maintain the relevant insurance producer license in any state in which we operate
- Act as the Designated Responsible Licensed Producer, responsible for Shorelight’s compliance with the insurance laws, rules and regulations in Massachusetts and all other states in which we operate
- Collaborate with the marketing team to attract new clients and universities
- Stay abreast of international and domestic insurance regulations and ensure compliance in all offerings
- Generate reports on insurance utilization, trends, and student feedback for continuous improvement
- Collaborate with internal teams to streamline insurance-related processes and enhance client experience
- Negotiate with underwriters to get the best policy at the best price
Security
- Comply with Shorelight Written Information Security Policy, and all other Shorelight Information Security Policies and Procedures
- Take responsibility for any Shorelight assets assigned to you
- Promptly report any security events, incidents, or weaknesses to Shorelight Security
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, or a related field
- 3+ years’ experience in insurance brokerage or a related field
- Massachusetts-issued insurance producer license and a license or ability to obtain a license in each of the states in which Shorelight operates
- Eligibility to work in, and travel freely to and from, the United States without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business Administration or a related field
- Professional certifications such as Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
