ABOUT THE ROLE
As a B Corp on a mission to accelerate the transition to a decarbonized future, 3Degrees develops and sells innovative climate solutions like Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), Carbon Credits, and Clean Fuel Standard Credits. In this strategic leadership role as the Head of Global Business Solutions, Commercial, you'll lead a high-performing team to drive sales growth across our entire suite of climate and renewable energy products and services. You'll develop and execute commercial strategies, manage and develop the team, and cultivate a positive, results-oriented environment. In this role, you'll spearhead the development of strong client relationships with major customers, fostering a collaborative environment where you and your team identify new business opportunities. You'll provide guidance and support to ensure your team exceeds ambitious sales targets. This is a full time role reporting to the Vice President, Global, Commercial Business. This position is open to candidates preferably based within a commutable distance of our San Francisco, CA, Portland, OR, Portland, ME, or New York, NY offices, where you'll enjoy a flexible hybrid working environment. While we have a preference for candidates excited for in-person collaboration working regularly in a 3Degrees office, exceptional candidates based outside of these cities and looking for a remote opportunity are encouraged to apply. Remote candidates agree to travel, periodically to 3Degree's offices for training or team collaboration and to conferences and customers as required. Frequency and cadence is team dependent, but on average is 1-6 times annually. 3Degrees does not provide sponsorship and /or relocation assistance for non-nationals in any of our roles. WHAT YOU'LL DO
In this role, you'll be a strategic sales leader who empowers a high-performing team to drive sales growth. You'll act as a coach, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure your team thrives throughout the entire sales opportunity process cycle, from outreach and conferences to engaging prospects, defining requirements, designing solutions, building business cases, negotiating, and closing new business. To achieve this, you'll be responsible for the following:
Leadership
Develop commercial strategy, in conjunction with the VP of Global Commercial Business, identifying and prioritizing commercial solutions opportunities.
Lead, motivate and coach regional and vertical focused team members to high performance, including achievement of commercial revenue goals and adherence to 3Degrees sales process and methodology and standards.
Conduct individual sales meetings, pipeline review, and account reviews weekly with team members.
Participate and lead cross functional commercial business related product and service efforts focused on strategic plan execution.
Work closely with the VP of Global Commercial Business and the Directors to foster a culture that positively contributes to our mission and values; maintain or improve team engagement scores and work collaboratively to improve results.
Collaborate with commercial leadership to improve interdepartmental working relationships, key account management, sales and negotiation skills, customer engagement and employer branding
Sales
Manage the team's generation of commercial leads through organized prospecting, assigned accounts and inbound leads, and networking efforts, including attending regional or national conferences, etc. Expected travel approximately 25%.
Demonstrate the ability to create packaged solutions in renewable energy attribute certificates (EACs) , carbon offsets and carbon advisory services, and renewable energy procurement (PPAs and VPPAs) and advisory services related to decarbonization.
Demonstrated ability to identify and facilitate expansion opportunities in our existing client base to build sales pipeline and generate new revenue.
Work across predefined verticals and products to create best-in class structured climate solutions engagements that maximize value for 3Degrees and its clients.
Effectively communicate the value proposition via presentations and proposals in collaboration with the Commercial Business Unit.
Maintain and grow existing client relationships by managing and ensuring loyalty through excellent customer service, timely communication and follow through.
Deliver accurate, up-to-date sales forecasts and activity tracking in Salesforce.
Proactively contribute to continuous improvement, providing input on 3Degrees products, marketing strategies, sales improvements and team collaboration.
Stay abreast of the renewable energy industry, 3Degrees' competitors, new product offerings and pricing through 3Degrees staff, industry publications, webinars, etc.
ABOUT YOU
You are a seasoned sales leader of a global team, with a demonstrated track record of multinational sales leadership success. With a minimum of 15 years of experience, at least 10 years of which have been spent in B2B sales at the VP, SVP, and C-suite level. You have a record of success in delivering against an aggressive annual sales plan, building strong relationships with complex organizations, and developing high-performing teams. To make an impact in this important role for the company you’ll bring the following expertise:
Customer relationship management expertise: You excel at building and maintaining strong, long-lasting relationships with clients. You understand the importance of excellent customer service and are adept at managing client expectations throughout the sales cycle and beyond
B2B Complex Solution Sales: Your proven track record of exceeding sales targets for complex solutions to large, multinational corporations, particularly in the energy sector, demonstrates a deep understanding of the B2B sales cycle. You excel at navigating the complexities of large deals, from initial prospecting and qualification to negotiation and closing
Championing Innovative Solutions: You're a strategic thinker who goes beyond traditional sales. You design and champion innovative solutions tailored to each customer's unique needs. By leveraging your creativity, you develop win-win scenarios that are replicable across similar clients, maximizing the impact of your solutions
Excellent negotiation and influencing skills: You are a skilled negotiator who can confidently represent 3Degrees' interests while fostering win-win outcomes for clients. You can effectively influence stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally
Strategic sales leadership and coaching: You have a demonstrably successful approach to leading and developing sales teams. This includes experience setting clear sales goals, developing winning sales strategies, and providing ongoing coaching and mentorship to help your team members achieve their full potential
Proven track record as a sales hunter: You have a successful history of prospecting for new business opportunities, identifying high-value clients, and driving sales pipeline growth. You're a strategic thinker who can develop targeted outreach campaigns and confidently navigate complex sales cycles to secure new wins for 3Degrees.
Passion for sustainability and a desire to make a positive impact: A desire and passion to assist large commercial clients with achieving carbon reduction and/or renewable energy goals. Strategic Growth Driver: You have a proven track record of developing and executing commercial strategies that unlock new markets and drive revenue growth. You excel at identifying high-value opportunities, crafting actionable plans, and adapting strategies to achieve ambitious goals
Value-based selling and strategic solutions expertise: You are professionally trained and a proponent of value-based selling, and possess the skills to strategically tailor solutions to meet the specific needs and goals of your clients. You understand how to effectively demonstrate the return on investment (ROI) of 3Degrees' solutions and create win-win partnerships
Proficiency in Salesforce or a similar CRM platform: You are a proficient user of Salesforce or a similar customer relationship management (CRM) platform. You understand how to leverage CRM technology to effectively manage sales opportunities, track progress, and generate insightful reports.
Strong communication and presentation skills: You are an excellent communicator with the ability to tailor your message to different audiences. You can deliver clear, concise, and compelling presentations that effectively communicate the value proposition of 3Degrees' solutions to potential and existing clients.
Academic Background: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration (MBA preferred), Economics, or a related field that emphasizes business development, strategic marketing, and complex B2B sales is a plus.

Within the First 30 Days:
Gain a comprehensive understanding of 3Degrees' business and strategic priorities, including the team structure, systems, processes, and tools used for sales and operations. This foundational knowledge will be crucial for effectively leading and coaching your team in the future.
Build strong cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders across departments like marketing, product development, and customer service. Collaboration is essential for achieving ambitious sales targets and aligning with the Commercial Business Unit scorecard goals.
Begin to develop your coaching and mentorship skills by providing guidance and support to junior team members.
Within the First 90 Days:
Hit the ground running by actively participating in sales meetings, pipeline reviews, and account management activities. Observe and learn effective coaching and leadership techniques from senior team members.
Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing Salesforce or a similar CRM platform to manage sales opportunities, track progress, and generate reports. This proficiency will be instrumental in setting and tracking KPIs associated with team performance.
Start familiarizing yourself with the Commercial Business Unit scorecard goals and identify opportunities to contribute through your sales activities.
Within the First 6 Months:
Develop and execute targeted outreach campaigns to generate leads and identify high-value clients within assigned verticals.

Lead the management and closure of enterprise deals, demonstrating a solid grasp of 3Degrees' solutions and value proposition and fostering collaboration with team members
Within the First Year:

Secure and close large, complex deals involving renewable energy solutions (e.g., PPAs, VPPAs, RECs, carbon offsets) for major commercial clients, directly impacting global and sales targets.
Retain and mentor direct reports, fostering a positive work environment and contributing to their professional growth.
Champion continuous improvement by providing valuable input on product development, marketing strategies, and sales process optimization, all aligned with the Commercial Business Unit scorecard goals.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Compensation: The starting base pay for this position is $215,000 to $255,000. The total compensation package for the successful candidate in this role will exceed the base pay as it
includes other incentive pay. The base pay is dependent upon many factors such as transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands.
The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future
