About the Role
The Head of finance & IS) reports directly to the CEO and is a member of Hivos Core Leadership Team (CLT) and is responsible for Finance and IS and will act as a strategic partner and advisor to the CLT team on all finance and IS issues. As a member of the CLT, the role carries collective responsibility for leading the entire organization—working collaboratively with the CEO and fellow CLT members to shape strategy, uphold organizational culture, and ensure coherent, cross-functional leadership.
Purpose of the Role
The primary purpose of the Global Head of Finance & IS is to ensure an integrated approach to program and global finances, whilst providing valuable support and guidance and framework setting for the finance and the IS team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee financial management, ensuring sound budgeting, control, and timely audited accounts.
- Strengthen financial sustainability by optimizing use of financial assets and resources.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, donor requirements, and external regulations.
- Manage corporate services delivery (Finance, Procurement, IS)
- Develop and implement finance control, audit, and quality improvement programs to enhance performance and accountability.
- Provide strategic financial advice and risk management support to the leadership team
- Drive digital transformation and efficiency through robust IS systems and business support tools.
- Build and lead a high-performing, service-oriented finance and IS team across the globe
- Lead, motivate, and develop staff, ensuring teamwork and professional growth.
Skills and Experience
- More than 10 years of progressive experience in leading finance teams
- Seasoned finance professional with proven experience in international, civil society accounting environments and have experience in overseeing IT developments.
- Solid accounting background with experience in budget development and (IS) project management
- Management experience in international civil society organizations with regional and country-level operations.
- Extensive experience in organizational change processes.
- Ability to combine in-depth financial experience with a strong focus on people and culture. Taking people along on the path to the next level.
