Group Facilitator (20 hours/week)

About the Job:

This Part-Time Group Facilitator position is part of the Family Support Team and will facilitate Parent Support Groups and workshops for moms enrolled in Family Support and Housing at New Moms. This position will collaborate with program coaches to provide comprehensive services in an integrated program as well as the rest of the staff to provide seamless high-quality services. The Group Facilitator will champion all New Moms values including our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, in both strategic planning and performance. This is a part-time, 20 hour per week position, and works at our Oak Park and Chicago offices.

Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week, including at least two 4-hour evening shifts and one 8-hour day shift

Hourly Wage: $23-$24/hour DOQ

Key Job Responsibilities:

Planning and Group Facilitation

  • Facilitates and implements Parent Support Group curriculum three (3) times a week that meets Parents as Teachers guidelines
  • Works in tandem with other New Moms staff to integrate services across the Agency; collaborating with staff and other collateral sources on specific case-related issues
  • Makes all preparations for parent support group meetings including communication/ marketing, curriculum preparation, meals, and transportation
  • Regular use of supportive coaching technologies to enhance connection and communication with participants
  • Performs written and electronic recordkeeping functions as required for both internal and external databases on a timely basis according to agency policy
  • Works to consistently ensure program compliance is met in each group under the direction of supervisor working to maximize participant retention as well as program safety
  • Coordinates participant surveys and program evaluations
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed with the goal of ensuring safety while collaborating with the participants program coach, supervisor and/or other appropriate supports

Other

  • Upholds the New Moms’ Executive Skills Coaching approach which is grounded in racial equity
  • Regularly participates in agency and program staff meetings, as well as professional group seminars or conferences to enhance professional knowledge and job skills as appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation counseling, social work, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, children and families or related human service field; OR Bachelor's degree in another field with two (2) years of clinical experience in a mental health setting; OR H.S. Diploma or Equivalent with five (5) years of clinical experience in mental health or human services required

  • Group facilitation experience preferred

Skills/Traits:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both oral and in writing
  • Experience in the use of personal computers and Microsoft software applications

Other requirements:

  • Ability to work two (2) evenings and one (1) day per week required

Access to a car and/or ability to use public transportation. If using car for transportation, must have valid driver’s license, with safe driving record and valid insurance
