Pay Range: $120,000 - $125,000

YOUR CAREER OPPORTUNITY
The Grants and Contracts Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring accurate, consistent, and timely accounting and compliance of the organization’s grants, including but not limited to, post-award grant accounting, budget modification as well as ensuring compliance with funding source administrative guidelines, timely receipt of revenue, accurate submission of financial and other related reports and grant regulations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee Grants Accounting Team
- Review and understand grant terms and conditions to guarantee compliance with funder requirements
- Oversee and monitor monthly project expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets and compliance with relevant federal state, and other regulations (i.e. 2 CFR Part 200) as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Review and prepare and submit timely invoices and report requests to funder agencies
- Review and prepare month-end/quarter-end compliance summary reports and collaborate with programs and support departments to prepare reports for funders
- Analyze grant budget versus actuals and collaborate with department heads to ensure spending is on track with departmental grant budget projections and manage amendments as needed
- Manage grant cancellations, amendments, and payment adjustments
- Oversee the post-award and closeout phases of financial grant management
- Prepare and review revenue journal entries including reclassification of costs & monthly accruals, TRNA Releases, Recognition of Deferred Revenue and other adjustments
- Knowledge of temporarily restricted net asset and deferred revenue accounting recognition rules
- Review monthly payroll allocation entries in relation to grant activities
- Responsible for Temporarily restricted net assets (TRNA) and Deferred Grant Schedules, AR Reconciliation, Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) and other revenue and audit schedules
- Maintain organized records and documentation to facilitate audit readiness
- Point of contact for compliance, fiscal and single audit requests, grants schedules, and open items lists
- Other duties as assigned
YOUR KEYS TO SUCCESS
To perform successfully in this role, you will need to leverage these key qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.
Core Competencies and Skills / Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in the Nonprofit sector; including general accounting, and compliance experience.
- 5+ years of experience in budget development and grants management.
- Excellent verbal communication, active listening, writing, and editing skills.
- Strong team collaborator, is nimble & flexible, highly resourceful, able to wear many hats.
- Demonstrated ability to appropriately prioritize multiple projects, keep processes moving forward in a timely manner, problem solve, and meet tight deadlines.
- Can resolve complex issues quickly and collaboratively with programs, finance, and operations.
- Skilled in budget development, and expense allocation to support proposals and grants.
- Knowledge of GAAP including reporting requirements and procedures related to Federal, State, and other related grants, cost accounting, and uniform guidance audit.
- Expertise of principles and practices of contract/grant administration and monitoring and budgeting.
- Ability to manage contracts, requirements, policies, and procedures relating to grants, applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to compile and analyze data and prepare summary status reports.
Software
- Experienced in fund accounting software, preferably MIP, Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, vlookups)
- Proficient in Other relevant technologies such as Salesforce
