Program/Department Overview
EDF’s Global Climate Cooperation (GCC) mission area leads and executes EDF’s work on multilateral climate cooperation and carbon pricing. The GCC team coordinates and aligns EDF’s approach for engagement and advocacy at international fora including the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and other UN climate talks. GCC team members undertake original research and publish in peer-reviewed journals; participate in and regularly give presentations to international negotiators, representing EDF and broader NGO coalitions; and develop and present materials in a wide range of settings including multilateral meetings with governments, civil society organizations, corporations, and other stakeholders around the world.
Overall Function
The Communications Intern, Global Climate Cooperation will be a critical member of EDF’s Global Climate Cooperation communications team in the lead-up to and during the COP28 United Nations climate change conference, providing remote communications support to the mission area staff and Marketing & Communications (MarComm) department. The intern will gain in-depth knowledge of communications strategies and tactics, with firsthand experience supporting the MarComm team in contributing to EDF’s goals – particularly around the world’s largest climate convening. They will support coordination and internal tracking of EDF’s participation at Multilateral events, media opportunities, and announcements. This role includes coordination of internal comms needs and timelines; social media content creation and promotion; and event planning and support.
The intern will report to the Sr. Communications Manager, Economics & Global Climate Cooperation, and coordinate closely with other members of the Global Climate Cooperation communications team, Global Climate Cooperation mission area staff, and the Marketing & Communications department.

Compensation
This internship would involve compensation for work paid at a rate competitive with leading non-profits at $17-20/hr based on education level.
