What you will do:
As the Global Clean Energy Intern, you will provide research and coordination support to the Global Energy Team’s various initiatives, with a particular focus on renewable energy projects including around emerging and innovative technologies across East and Southeast Asia and Latin America.
Examples of potential initiatives you will contribute to include the Climate Solutions Partnership, the Clean Energy Investment Accelerator, and the Asia Clean Energy Coalition. The majority of your work will focus on research support for WRI’s Global Energy Program, with a focus on helping countries meet their energy transition goals and bring the benefits of clean energy to all communities. Tasks will include providing research and logistical support to advance on decarbonization of electricity supply, corporate clean energy demand (such as commercial and industrial customers and national, sub-national and local governments) and carbon-free and innovative technologies.
You will assist with writing memos and background notes to support meetings and WRI knowledge products, identifying emerging evaluation metrics for equity in clean energy programs, monitoring and tracking local government renewable energy transactions, assisting with project development, and reporting to funders and conducting other tasks as needed. You will help maintain and update our Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) DevResults tool, which enables analysis and visualization of our results across our active projects to strengthen our ability to learn from data in real time to be aligned with the 2023 – 2027 WRI Strategic Plan. You may also help with creating data visuals, presentation decks, and outreach and assistance with the production of webinars and virtual events.
Internship Learning Outcomes:
Providing research related to decarbonization of electricity supply, corporate clean energy demand (such as commercial and industrial customers and national, sub-national and local governments) and carbon-free and innovative technologies. Supporting with research on clean energy regulatory and policy frameworks in WRI’s focus countries. Tracking the latest energy transitions developments and discussions, including private and public sectors announcements, major policy and regulatory changes, procurement mechanisms, new market rules and emerging innovative technologies. Assisting with crafting first-draft concept papers, proposals, pitch decks and other donor communications. Helping with the reporting to funders and maintaining and updating our Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) DevResults tool. Researching, drafting, and editing case studies, memos, blogs, and WRI knowledge products and resources.

The pay range for this internship opportunity is $20/ hour for undergrads and $22/ hour for graduates
