Funds Development Associate

JOB DESCRIPTION

Sacred Heart Community Service (SHCS) located in San José, CA is looking for a Development Associate to track and coordinate the organization’s growing donor engagement efforts. The person in this position must be highly organized, detail oriented, and work together with people from across the organization to ensure donations and questions are processed and acknowledged with speed, confidentiality, and grace. The ideal candidate must be committed to Sacred Heart’s vision of a community united to ensure every child and adult is free from poverty.  For over 56 years, SHCS has been one of the leading institutions fighting poverty in Santa Clara County through a strategy that combines addressing the consequences of poverty through impactful programs while building power with people to push for systemic change.

**Position Summary
**Sacred Heart Community Service is seeking a multi-faceted funds development professional to support our funds development and communications work. The position will be responsible for performing and creating donor database tasks such as donation tracking and acknowledgement, cultivating volunteers, and building lasting rapport with donors. The Development Associate will provide excellent customer service to all donors, and strengthen the bonds between the giving public and Sacred Heart.

The position works on site in San José, CA five days per week.

Description of Duties

Coordination of Donor Relations and Database Management (75-80%)

  • Processes all pledge and gift entries, pledge payment reminders and gift acknowledgments following documented processes and timelines;
  • Coordinates and reconciles all gifts (cash and in-kind), pledges, and deposits with Finance and Administration teams;
  • Provides financial, operational, and ad hoc reports as required;
  • Coordinates printing and mailing of all appeals and newsletters;
  • Maintains agency statistics for Board reports, grant proposals, and marketing;
  • Recruits, trains, schedules, and coordinates Funds Development volunteers; and
  • Ensures proper handling of sensitive donor and financial information.

Donor and Community Engagement (20-25%)

  • Assists large donor recognition, cultivation, and informational events with Funds Development Team;
  • Assists with donor solicitation activities including presentations and events as assigned;
  • Performs donor stewardship responsibilities and supports Community Engagement efforts as assigned.

Leadership (3-5%)

  • Supports the planning and implementation of organization-wide programs, events, training, and outreach efforts;
  • Actively participates in the organization-wide programs and is available to work during November/December giving season;
  • Acts as a “mandated reporter” by maintaining strict adherence to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Law; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED: Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong commitment to our vision of ensuring every child and adult is free from poverty
  • Strong written and interpersonal professionalism
  • Experience with Salesforce OR 1-3 years’ experience processing charitable donations in a similar CRM database
  • Experience with Salesforce AND 1-3 years’ experience working in accounts receivable
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced, active work environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and intergenerational skills
  • Experience with customer service and or answering public inquiries
  • The position requires computer use up to 6-8 hours a day
  • Must successfully pass a DMV and Criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and either Spanish, Vietnamese, or Mandarin desired
  • Experience with planning and hosting public events
  • Experience with marketing, public relations, and media advocacy
  • Well-connected in Silicon Valley with the ability to draw on existing relationships
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs without assistance and up to 50lbs with assistance

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

The Development Associate reports to the Sr. Director of Community Development and joins the team of the Community Development department.

COMPENSATION

This job is full-time, non-exempt at 40 hours per week.  The pay range for this position is commensurate with experience ranging from $27-29 per hour.
