ABOUT THE ROLE

The Fundraiser, Mid-Level plays a key role in Cuso International’s donor pipeline by engaging and stewarding a portfolio of approximately 600 donors. This ‘one-to-many’ role involves high levels of personalized correspondence, innovative engagement strategies, and tailored donor journeys to strengthen relationships and increase donor commitment. By deepening engagement, the Fundraiser will work to upgrade mid-level donors into major gift prospects, ensuring a strong pipeline for future philanthropic growth.

This role will require creativity, strong digital and written communication skills, and a strategic mindset to develop scalable stewardship and cultivation tactics. While donor visits will be less frequent, the Fundraiser will leverage digital platforms, personalized campaigns, and unique touchpoints to strengthen donor relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Mid-Level Giving Strategy:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive engagement plan for mid-level donors to increase retention, upgrade giving levels, and identify prospects for major gifts.
  • Implement a 'one-to-many' approach, balancing personalized stewardship with scalable donor communications.
  • Create innovative ways to recognize, inform, and steward donors through digital tools, impact reports, special events, and exclusive updates.
  • Collaborate with the Annual Giving and Major Gifts teams to ensure a seamless donor journey from first-time gift to major giving.
  • Utilize donor segmentation strategies to tailor messaging and maximize engagement.

Donor Stewardship & Engagement:

  • Maintain regular personalized contact with mid-level donors through email, phone calls, video messages, and targeted mailings.
  • Develop and test new engagement initiatives such as webinars, donor surveys, behind-the-scenes content, and recognition opportunities.
  • Identify and cultivate donors with major gift potential, facilitating warm hand-offs to the Major Gifts team.
  • Track engagement metrics and adjust strategies to improve donor retention and lifetime value.
  • Work with the Communications team to craft compelling storytelling pieces that highlight donor impact.

Digital & Data-Driven Fundraising:

  • Leverage CRM and digital tools (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Feathr, email marketing platforms) to personalize outreach and track donor engagement.
  • Analyze donor giving patterns and behaviors to identify opportunities for targeted appeals and stewardship.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing team to develop donor-centric content for email campaigns, social media, and online giving platforms.
  • Regularly monitor and report on donor trends, engagement rates, and retention metrics.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • College or university degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of fundraising or people engagement experience
  • Strong donor stewardship or customer care experience, with a proven ability to engage and build relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in writing, digital outreach, and donor relations.
  • Data-driven mindset, with experience using CRMs (Raiser’s Edge preferred) and analytics to inform strategy.
  • Creative problem-solver with an innovative approach to donor engagement.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for nonprofit work and international development.

Desirable

  • French language skills (strong asset).
  • Familiarity with legacy giving, direct marketing, and major gifts pipelines.
