Who we are
SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. The organization started its humanitarian work with the opening of its first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. The organization has been providing life-saving provisions such as food, water and health services for a very significant number of children devastated by severe drought and the subsequent famine.
Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community-based organizations across seven program locations; SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia aspires that every child grows up with love, respect and security.
Why we need you?
We are looking for a Family Strengthening (FS) Coordinator & Donor Contract Management who is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of international and local donor funded projects under his/her responsibility. The job holder will be responsible for advising and supporting the overall implementation of projects under his/her portfolio, undertaking project management, planning, playing leading role in internal and external project reporting, grant management, partners’ engagement, monitoring and evaluation of the project's activities, outputs and impacts.

Your role....
While working with us a Family Strengthening (FS) Coordinator & Donor Contract Management you will be.
In charge of the following:
Program Development and Oversight
Under the leadership of the National FSP Manager, collaborates with the National MERA Coordinator in undertaking relevant research such as CRSA, Feasibility Studies, Terminal Evaluations, and others that bring the research base or the evidence for program development
Participates in the development of concept notes and project proposals
Participates in the appraisal of project proposals that were developed by other parties
Participates in the review of program strategies and approaches
In collaboration with the FSP Manager, provides technical advice to respective LPDs and FCD Coordinators when they engage in program development work or when they respond to call for proposal
Quality Management, Monitoring, Evaluation And Learning
Shares relevant SOS Quality Standard Documents with respective colleagues and undertakes extensive familiarization work.
Where new Quality Standards are direly needed develop one and upon approval, lead its implementation across the assigned projects portfolio of projects
Checks if FCD programs or projects are implemented in accordance with the quality standards of SOS CVs
Provides on-site awareness-raising or capacity-building support to relevant program staff where gaps in quality management exist
Checks the alignment of Quality Standards with National Policies and Standards and proposes mitigation measures where significant gaps exist.
In collaboration with the FSP Manager, makes sure that all the assigned projects portfolio has professionally developed MERA plan and this is approved by competent authorities
Supports LPDs and FCD Coordinators in their effort of undertaking baseline study
In collaboration with the FSP Manager, undertakes periodic project monitoring activities and reports the same to the FSP Manager Coordinator, respective LPDs, and if need be to the FSP Manager.
Checks if projects are implemented in accordance with the approved plan and budget and if promised results are being created
Supports LPDs in the self-evaluation of FCD projects and shares the report on the same with FSP Manager.
Managing People and Financial Resources
Provides leadership for the successful execution of the project
Provides technical oversite for FS coordinates at the location level
Makes sure that budgets are used for intended purposes and they are spent in accordance with approved procedures and limits and donor requirements
Train and support relevant staff in Project Cycle Management and Logical Framework Approach among other models and approaches
Donor Contract Management
Responsible for Donor Contract Management (DCM) of institutional (restricted) grants, including contract preparation, development of consortium agreements, teaming agreements compliance with donor requirements, and submission of reports.
Develop and maintain a mechanism for the management of institutional contracts.
Ensure all funding files, (electronic, system, and paper) are complete and kept up to date.
Undertake routine donor contract administration for country programs including maintenance of records on donor contracts.
Establish a close working relationship with the Finance Department and provide advice to ensure synergy in donor budgeting, contract management, and reporting.
Partnership Development and Networking
Negotiate collaboration with partner institutions and government departments in support of SOS CV Ethiopia subject to approval from the National Director
Represent SOS CV Ethiopia in sector-level meetings (development and humanitarian/emergency) and other networking forums and use this to aggressively develop funding partnerships
Child Safeguarding
Raising sessions and capacity-building training in relation to Child Safeguarding to prevent and protect children and young people from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence, and discrimination.
Support children and young people to make them understand the CS risks and protection mechanisms
Responsible to report any CS suspicion, concern, allegation or incident immediately, following Child Safeguarding reporting procedures. CS reports should be made to the CS team at the program level and/or to the respective line manager

The must haves
Education:
Experience:
5 years of relevant experience out of which 2 years in supervisory
Experiences in working with our target group, i.e. vulnerable children, families and community
Excellent command of English both written and spoken
Technical Skills
Strong techincal understanding of community empowerment
Strong knowledge and experience in household economic empowerment or livelihood development
Leadership experience that includes coaching staff to high levels of performance & perform effectively as a team & engaging in effective cross-cultural & cross-functional working to achieve shared goals.
Strong knowledge of Development theory, policy and practice, with a good knowledge of technical sectors, relief, advocacy & fundraising
Experience of developing, implementing and monitoring strategic and operational plans within a demanding organization
Confident competency in budget and financial management and monitoring with multiple stakeholders.
Proven experience in project management, planning, monitoring and evaluation
Experience in developing, implementing and reviewing participatory planning, monitoring and evaluation processes. Demonstrated ability to incorporate results of these activities into project design and implementation
Experience in financial management, including the ability to develop, read and manage budgets, and rapidly spot potential issues and solutions
Good knowledge and understanding of children’s rights and rights-based approaches in the development of programmes
