About the job
We are on a mission to make 100% real, delicious meat, without the negative impact on our climate and the need to raise and slaughter animals.
The Meatable approach for creating ‘cell-based’ meat is based on ground-breaking proprietary technology that was developed at The University of Cambridge and allows us to turn induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) into muscle and fat cells, creating 100% real, delicious, guilt free meat. We use iPSCs because they have amazing benefits that enable affordable, at scale production (e.g., they are pluripotent, grow completely serum free, have unlimited proliferation capacity and can grow in suspension). With our technology, scalable cell-based meat production is becoming a reality.
We are a young and fast-growing company and are entering our next wave of growth. Given our size, new team members will be a huge part of our motivated multidisciplinary team. Our culture encourages everybody on the team to actively shape their position and we provide ample opportunities for personal and professional growth.
As our new Junior Application Technologist your main responsibilities include:
Being part of the Food Science & Application team, supporting the development of applications and finished product concepts with cultured meat products.
Managing RM documentation and enter specification data in the Raw Materials Database.
Work on product optimization (Aroma, Taste, color, texture, and nutritional profile, etc.), using a dual approach:
Use insights on the culinary ecosystem in our markets and a great deal of out-of-the-box thinking to create new product applications.
Produce large sets of products (applications) for tasting activities, for both internal and external purposes.
Support sensory tasting activities with our cross functional sensory panel. Help collect and analyze the sessions input to use it as a tool to generate upstream and/or downstream product improvement hypotheses.
Support the implementation of new analysis methodology to test cultured meat, raw materials, and finished products to quantify our learnings and support the decision-making process.
Assist in the implementation of the Quality and Food Safety Management System at Meatable’s organization (including its R&D organization, research laboratories and the pilot plant).
Arrange samples for shipment and analysis
