Flying Labs Network Support Intern

WeRobotics is a social impact organization that brings together local experts, communities and activists. We co-create and facilitate an inclusive network of independent, locally-led and demand-driven knowledge hubs: the “Flying Labs®” network. Flying Labs strengthen local expertise in the use of drones, robotics, data and AI for positive social change. They demonstrate The Power of Local. Flying Labs are operational in 35+ countries in Africa, Latin America, Asia and beyond.

We have an exciting internship opportunity to be part of the WeRobotics’ team as a Flying Labs Network Support Intern who will work with WeRobotics and the Flying Labs Network and assist with the day-to-day coordination, administration and activities of the organization. The position is ideal for individuals who approach their work in a creative and proactive manner. As this position will not be technical, the candidate does not need to have drone knowledge, experience or technical skills.

This learning opportunity allows the intern to step foot in an international not-for-profit organization, working alongside a dedicated team spread across the globe. You will strengthen your communication skills all the while learning how local Flying Labs make an impact applying leadership, entrepreneurship and technology to solve social challenges. And yes, Flying Labs Really Are Different.

This is a remote work position. Candidates from the continents where the Flying Labs are active (Africa, Asia and Latin America) are especially encouraged to apply.

We are looking for an intern who:

  • Is native or proficient in English and has great writing skills, with attention to detail;
  • Bilingual English/French or bilingual English/Spanish to support Flying Labs members in French and Spanish-speaking countries, in writing and verbally;
  • Has University-level education or equivalent;
  • Has a first working experience (minimum 1 year) that can relate to this internship position;
  • Has basic project management skills and basic data management skills (i.e. using Excel or Google Sheets) or is willing to learn;
  • Is a strong communicator, including interpersonal communication, at ease with different communication styles;
  • Is highly organized, proactive, takes initiative and has an entrepreneurial mindset;
  • Loves working with people from diverse places and cultures and is comfortable interacting on regular video calls and webinars;
  • Familiarity with co-creation and facilitation concepts a plus;
  • Is equipped to work remotely with minimal supervision and has access to a computer.

Location: Remote; reliable internet connectivity and quiet workspace required.

Contract: Full time paid internship for a duration of 6 months. Depending on performance and available funding, this internship can evolve into a permanent position.

Roles and Accountabilities include:

  • Scheduling and leading individual check-in calls with Flying Labs;
  • Onboarding of new Flying Labs and their team members across all tools and channels (Slack, Google Drive, Atlassian Confluence, …);
  • Supporting communication efforts of Flying Labs (keeping record of public communications, setting up of webinars, helping Flying Labs create social media accounts, etc.);
  • Proofreading of Flying Labs blog posts in English and French or Spanish;
  • Supporting data collection efforts around WeRobotics and Flying Labs activities feeding into our public impact pages and reporting;
  • Content and administrative support for the WeRobotics Online Training Academy;
  • Performing general coordination, facilitation and administrative tasks;
  • Performing project management tasks on WeRobotics internal and external projects;
  • More specialized assignments depending on interests and skills.
