Position Summary
PolicyLink is seeking a Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Associate to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, the FP&A Associate will play a significant role in the overall financial planning, budgeting, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of PolicyLink financial performance. The ideal candidate should have functional and relevant experience in a fast-paced, complex environment, is self-motivated, and looking to make a difference in the lives of others.
Core Responsibilities
Budget Planning and Financial Reporting
- Assist in creating, organizing, and analyzing yearly financial plans, budget, and forecast models.
- Play a key role in the creation and maintenance of budget templates, grant proposal templates, and updating of financial dashboard and reports in Sage Intacct.
- Create variance analysis reports and financial models. Report on periodic (monthly, quarterly and yearly) financial performance.
- Work closely with Program and Development teams to resolve reporting issues and provide grants and financial statement information as requested.
- Play a significant role in the implementation and integration of an additional financial budgeting software with Intacct. This software will help to automate the budgeting process, allowing for greater cross departmental collaborations, as well as easy availability of financial dashboards and reports for real-time insights.
Grant Management and Reporting
- Track monthly grant revenue and expenses in Salesforce and Sage Intacct.
- Ensure compliance across grant financials/deadlines and provide internal grants status reports to department heads and external grant reports to funders/donors.
- Net assets—provide accurate monthly net asset classification and net asset balance.
General Financial Duties
- Collaborate closely with all members of the accounting and finance team during the monthly close and on all other finance/accounting responsibilities as needed.
- Prepare other reports and participate in other special projects as requested.
- Maintain awareness of proper internal controls and make recommendations for any deficiencies.
- Escalate any financial issues to management.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional development opportunities.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required, specialization in finance or accounting or equivalent work experience.
- 3 – 5 years of demonstrated nonprofit financial accounting experience; 501(c) (3) 501(c) (4) hybrid experience a plus.
- Prior experience in FP&A or Financial Analyst roles is a plus.
- Experience with grants management and/or grants reporting.
- Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and statistical skills.
- Advanced computer skills with expert knowledge of MS Excel Microsoft Office.
- Proficient to advanced knowledge of PowerPoint, Google G Suite, Zoom, and CRM such as Salesforce.
- Experience working with nonprofit general ledger systems and integration of these with other critical operations systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, Salesforce, Payroll, and HRIS).
- Must be detail-oriented and able to balance multiple responsibilities and tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction to accomplish objectives.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and outside parties to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving.
- Learns quickly and has strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Work Environment
- This role reports to the Director of FP&A and works closely with Program Leads, Managers, Directors, and Executives who are in the Pacific, Central, and/or Eastern time zones.
- This position is remote, with travel required for periodic team gatherings.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $80,000 – $95,000 dependent on experience.
