We help businesses achieve their sustainability goals: Whether that’s by working together on one of our biodiversity projects, hosting an employee tree planting event on-site, or supporting our UK reforestation projects. Our partners can visit us on-site for team away days and experience the positive impact of our partnership first-hand. The Future Forest Company also offer high-grade carbon credits from our sites in the UK.

About the role

We are looking for a Financial Controller to head up our finance team and, with a direct reporting line to our CEO, be involved in decision making and shaping the future strategy of the company.

You’ll have a varied and diverse role which is critical to our success. You will work across the whole business, with responsibility for the day-to-day management of the finance function as well as being a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.

This role is a 4 day working week being remote with occasional travel to Scotland.

What will you do

You will have oversight of technical accounting and financial processes - accounts payable, accounts receivable, systems, governance, VAT, Corporation Tax, financing, grant accounting, service providers (pensions, charge cards), lenders, audit, UK payroll etc.

You will also own budgeting cycles and reporting to deliver insightful Board, investor and management reporting.

You will assist the CEO and senior team in business modelling, structuring equity options and designing fundraising proposals.

About you

You are passionate about our objectives and goals as a company and driven by the opportunity to have real positive climate impact. You have great attention to detail and take pride in your work, are comfortable taking initiative and communicating easily with a range of people as well as bringing a positive attitude to your work.

Essential:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with at least 5 years PQE
  • Previous experience in a senior, commercially-focused finance role.
  • Technically astute across a range of topics including tax and accounting compliance, financing and corporate structuring.
  • Are super organised, methodical and always seeking new and innovative ways to solve problems.
  • Analytical and spot the small stuff.
  • Are a strong communicator, are able to build rapport and strong relationships quickly including presenting to senior groups such as a Board of Directors.
  • Thrive in a high-paced, small and growing environment.
  • Happy operating remotely, taking ownership and comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Care passionately about what the Future Forest Company are all about.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a start-up environment including fundraising.
  • Knowledge of LLP compliance.

Working environment

  • Role is remote with occasional travel to our sites in Scotland as welll as meetings in London expected.
