The Role:

The primary focus of the Financial Accountant is to manage our various legal entities as well as support the Senior Finance Manager, the creditor and sundry debtors’ requirements of the businesses, reconcile bank accounts and prepare VAT returns. The role includes assisting the Junior Finance Manager with review and posting of other creditors clerks work, taking full ownership of the assigned legal entity and audit and supporting the entities and audits. This role is based in our Claremont, Western Cape, South Africa office.  The role reports into the Senior Finance Manager and may require periodic travel within CFM’s regional offices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Accounts Payable

  • Verify invoices

  • Review expense claims, credit card reconciliations and creditors reconciliations

  • Code and allocate invoices per chart of account and capture entries in the accounting system (Microsoft Dynamics) for review

  • Capture payments made and reconcile creditors age analysis, ensuring creditors paid per payment terms

  • Maintain creditors database

  • Assist in preparing expense reports for monthly reporting

  • Maintain records of creditors invoices and other supporting information for audit and tax purposes

  • Manage Sundry Debtors

  • Prepare sundry debtor recovery invoices for review

  • Banking & Treasury

  • Prepare bank payments, including international payments

  • Reconcile bank accounts (USD, EUR, ZAR, SGD,COP)

  • Journal Entries

  • Prepare and post entries for Bank, Debtors, Creditors, and general journals

  • Maintain records for audit and tax purposes

  • Operations support and reporting

  • Assist with the internal and external audit

  • Assist with business planning and forecasting

  • VAT/Corporate Tax

  • Assist with preparation of VAT returns

  • Audit

  • prepare audit pack for Singapore entity

    • Ensure supporting documentation readily available for audit;
    • prepare reporting packs, annual integrated report and annual financial statements in terms of IFRS;
    • Assist with Latin America audit
  • Assist CFM team with special ad-hoc reporting requirements and requests.

  • Good accounting technical knowledge and financial reporting skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills;
  • Ability to package and communicate financial information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Results-orientated individual who works with a strong sense of urgency and thrives in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications and Experience

  • An accounting degree, CIMA or SAIPA candidate
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience within financial accounting
  • Experience working in accounting packages (particularly Microsoft Dynamics advantageous)
  • Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
