Energy & Environment, one of Ricardo plc’s five operating business units, is a leader in sustainability consultancy, solving complex environmental challenges through industry-leading analysis, advice and data. With more than 40 years of heritage in addressing air quality, environmental and sustainability issues, our customers value us for our deep understanding and breadth of services covering the entire value chain from evidence, policy & strategy to implementation.

We are currently looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team.

Key responsibilities

  • Preparation of cash flow and working capital forecasts, budgets and reporting.
  • Working with the business to achieve excellent cash performance.
  • Preparation of statutory annual reports.
  • Prepare supporting information for audits, including liaising with internal and external auditors.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal controls.
  • Day to day management of Assistant Financial Accountant.
  • Undertake one to one meetings, appraisals and other staff meetings.
  • Improve systems and processes within the team to ensure it is running in the most efficient and effective way, including development of new reports.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparation of data for Corporation Tax returns.
  • Preparation of various period end, half year and year end reports for internal and group reporting.
  • Provide support for wider finance team during peak times and periods of high leave.
  • Provide cover for payroll processing (outsourced)

Key competencies and experience

  • Commercially focused fully qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA).
  • Knowledge of statutory accounts and working as part of a multi-national group.
  • Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards.

Skills and behaviours

  • Able to liaise and influence at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and IT skills and the willingness to work as a team.
  • Possess excellent attention to detail and ability to work on their own initiative and prioritise work and meet deadlines

Desirable

  • Able to work independently and part of a team.
  • Prior knowledge/experience of working capital management.
  • Experience of managing and motivating a team.
  • Experience of Agresso/Unit 4 ERP – but not essential.
