Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non-governmental organisation. We work with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP). We work to reduce violence, protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath, and help transform the world’s response to conflict situations.

OVERVIEW

NP is an implementing organization of the ongoing peace process between the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the Philippine government. Our mandate for implementing the peace process includes monitoring and reporting individuals’ concerns about safety, protective accompaniment for civilians and organizations in areas of conflict, including NP team members accompanying hostage survivors to reunite with their families. NP monitors whether conflicting parties are abiding by ceasefire agreements, and it verifies and reports compliance and noncompliance of agreements. NP creates safe spaces for peaceful dialogue between different stakeholders in the country, including local institutions, for community-based conflict prevention and conflict resolution, training local leaders and organizations in UCP methodologies for monitoring, unarmed peacekeeping and civilian protection.

To broaden the appreciation and acceptance of Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP) in the country, NP is working to increase awareness, engagement, and participation by building support at the local, regional, and national levels.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the guidance and supervision of the Project Coordinator and Finance Officer, the incumbent will provide support in the management, administration, judicious utilisation of funds and monitoring of financial transactions of the assigned grant.

In particular, the appointee will be the focal staff for the financial transactions of the grant and ensures strict compliance to established guidelines and procedures on budgeting, accounting and auditing standards of NP and of the donor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily Tasks

    • Provide support procurement of goods and services needed by the project staff as well as by the implementing partners and ensure timely payment of vendors.
    • Prepare cash and payment vouchers with complete documentation and attachments.
    • Assist the Finance Officer in monitoring and releasing of all cash advances related to the project/grant
    • Post day-to-day transactions to QuickBooks and produce cash disbursement book
    • Facilitate bank transactions
    • Review liquidation reports on cash advances and operational budget
    • Review all receipts every month and submit findings to Finance Officer
    • Maintain finance files/documents /ledgers in a systematic and orderly manner
  • Monthly Tasks

    • Prepares bank reconciliation statement, payroll reconciliation and journal vouchers
    • Update cash advances ledger of project staff and partners
  • Other Tasks

    • Assist during conduct of external audit
    • Assist in preparation of annual obligatory government requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • University degree in accountancy or equivalent in a related field to business administration, management, finance and relevant training in finance, accounting, budgeting, compliance review.
  • Minimum of two (2) years work experience in finance, accounting and budgeting processes and management particularly in international development organizations with multi-cultural office environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in an NGO or similar organisation.
  • Expertise/in-depth knowledge on QuickBooks (Desktop and Online) software would be given preference
  • Local resident of Cotabato City

  • Ability to set priorities, solve problems and analyze data.
