Are you an experienced construction inspector who is looking to work on new and important infrastructure projects? Or someone with experience in the construction industry and is looking for a career change?

Dillon’s Calgary office is looking for an Contract Field Inspector to join our Community Infrastructure group. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of land development and street re-construction projects in Calgary and the surrounding area.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Construction Inspection and Coordination (100%)

1. Full time on-site field inspections of infrastructure projects, ensuring that projects meet the requirements of contract drawings and specifications
2. Coordinate, monitor and witness required testing activities
3. Complete daily records of conditions, site activities, and work progress
4. Support contract administration as required

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

1. A minimum 2 years work experience as a construction inspector or similar experience working in the construction industry.
2. Competence using surveying equipment, including laser levels, construction level, GPS, or total station would be considered an asset. Training can be provided.
3. Comfortable communicating and providing direction to Contractors and other personal on construction sites.
4. Able to keep organized notes related to daily site activities, contractor equipment used and document with photos.
5. A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology would be an asset
6. Licensed to practice as a Certified Engineering Technologist, or eligible to be licensed within six months, an asset
7. Basic understanding of AutoCAD would be an asset, but not required.
8. Valid Driver’s License

Experience

1. Experience as a resident inspector on land development or municipal infrastructure projects
2. Work experience in the construction industry including underground services, concrete and pavement installation, or residential housing construction.
3. Working knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial construction and building code standardsKnowledge of construction contracts and administration
4. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) are essential
