Title: M4BL Field Director
Schedule: Full-Time
Location: Remote; travel required
Salary: $120k–150k annually, with full health benefits for employees and

POSITION SUMMARY
The Field Director is responsible for the development and management of M4BL’s field program, including coordination of its national campaigns, membership growth and expansion, and coordination of base-building efforts. The Field Director will work with the M4BL Leadership Teams across the ecosystem and key staff to ensure high levels of coordination, and leadership on implementing a strategy around growing, strengthening, engaging and developing our membership, while expanding our base.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Membership:
- Membership Growth Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive membership growth strategy
- Membership Retention: Implement initiatives and programs to enhance member satisfaction, engagement, and retention, ensuring members perceive value in their membership.
- Work with the leadership development team to identify and explore opportunities to expand membership offerings, benefits, and services to meet the evolving needs of current and potential members.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate opportunities for strong relationships with current and prospective members, understanding their needs and interests and providing personalized support and guidance.
- Member Engagement: Oversee the team responsible for planning and organizing member events
Field Operations:
- Field Operations Management: Oversee and coordinate field teams, programs, and initiatives, ensuring their effective implementation and adherence to established timelines and budgets.
Campaigns:
- Work with campaigns, policy, and electoral leads teams to develop, lead and support advocacy efforts and campaigns in the field, engaging members, mobilizing support, and driving initiatives. And oversee the field implementation of the campaign.
Management:
- Team Leadership: Manage field staff, providing guidance and support, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Resource Management: Manage field resources, including budgets, materials, equipment, and supplies, ensuring efficient and effective utilization to maximize impact.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish metrics and systems to monitor and evaluate program outcomes and impact, using data to drive continuous improvement and evidence-based decision-making.
- Reporting and Communication: Prepare regular reports on field activities, progress, challenges, and achievements, and effectively communicate updates to organizational leadership, stakeholders, and the community.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least 10 years of movement-building, organizing, and base-building experience
- At least 10 years of experience leading and coordinating national campaigns that are centered on base-building and increasing coordination across teams
- Extensive experience drafting field plans, including budgeting
- Extensive experience managing staff and diverse leadership structures
- Demonstrated ability to build and motivate teams and work effectively in a team environment in both a management and support role
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with both national, state and local structures for grassroots movements
- Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated high level of ability to resolve conflicts while maintaining important and effective relationships
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in politically-sensitive and high-pressure environments
- Demonstrated ability to exercise excellent political judgment and discretion
- Ability to travel on a regular basis as needed, and for extended periods of time
