The Project Management Unit (PMU) is central to Itad’s delivery of the project portfolio. As a team we work closely with Itad consultants, clients and a range of chosen external suppliers for the delivery of our growing project portfolio. We’re a highly supportive team, working across the full Itad business with a strong commercial focus and pride ourselves with efficient operational delivery.
As a Programme Officer you will perform a senior role within the Project Management Unit (PMU), that also includes a senior role within the delivery of our complex projects or programmes throughout the project lifecycle. It’s a key role in the business providing day to day continuity across the portfolio, the PMU and Practices.
The role will support the delivery of projects and programmes within our Fragile and Conflict-affected Settings (FCAS) practice, with a specific focus on the FCDO’s Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF), covering Africa, MENA, South Asia and the Indo-Pacific, and UK Overseas Territories.
There are three key areas of responsibility:
Project Delivery: Taking on varying project roles, leading processes, and relationships for successful commercial delivery of high-risk and complex projects. Acting as a Programme Officer within the FCAS Practice, supporting Project Managers and project delivery, overseeing Project Officers, and ensuring effective planning of travel and security deployments and budget management
Building PMU: Leading improvements across all three PMU specialisms—Procurement, Commercial, and Operational. Enhancing systems and processes, identifying efficiencies, and standardizing practices for broader benefit.
People and Leadership: Fostering knowledge sharing and business improvements across the PMU and beyond. Mentoring and coaching, conducting performance management, and contributing to PMU management for continuous enhancement.
