Position Title: Fall Intern, NextGen, GHG Accounting

Location: Washington, DC preferred/remote possible
Hourly Rate: $25 per hour
Term: September 19, 2022 – December 16, 2022 (3 months)
Why Intern with CEBA? As an intern, you will gain professional skills and experience in a non-profit business association while working alongside our world-class team. You will have a birds-eye view of how system change can be accomplished and will grow to understand the daily tasks and activities that will get us there.
Interns specifically working with the programmatic teams learn about clean energy including how energy customers across all sectors, like Google, General Motors, Johnson & Johnson, and Citi are shifting the energy system, while building professional skills across a wide range of topics within the clean energy space.
Intern Overview/Summary Responsibilities:
The NextGen (GHG Accounting) intern will support CEBI’s Next Generation Carbon-Free Electricity (CFE) Procurement Initiative in its efforts to expand the suite of CFE procurement options to drive systemic decarbonization impact to the electricity grid through voluntary market actions. The intern will assist in building educational materials such as infographics around the next evolution of greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and impact-based reporting metrics for electricity procurement. The intern may also coordinate work across the Innovation Team to support additional aspects of the NextGen Initiative, collaborate with external partners, and engage with a large set of multi-sector stakeholders.
Core Intern Responsibilities:
Develop infographics and compelling visualizations that explain complex topics in simple terms.
Research and analyze differences in attributional, consequential, and impact-based GHG accounting methods.
Support the development of external-facing communications (e.g., position papers, op-eds, blog posts) to elevate the voice of large energy buyers.
Assist in the creation of newsletters and communications materials.
Attend educational webinars and briefings.
Research and track updates on stakeholder progress toward priorities in key NextGen focus areas (e.g. energy attribute certificates and registries, GHG accounting standards, and leadership recognition programs).
Research and analyze trends related to customers’ next generation procurement strategies.
Provide updates in weekly staff meetings on project deliverables.
Support preparation and delivery of meetings and webinars with members by developing agendas, presentations, and related materials.
Required Qualifications:
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred or Additional Qualifications:
Knowledge or experience with clean energy attribute certificates, greenhouse gas accounting standards (i.e. Greenhouse Gas Protocol), and customer goal-setting or leadership recognition programs (i.e. SBTi, RE100, etc.) preferred
Knowledge or experience with corporate clean energy procurement preferred
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint preferred
Passion for achieving CEBA’s vision of customer-driven clean energy for all

Able to work effectively with others in a collaborative, team-based environment
Able to take initiative and solve problems independently
Internship Structure:
Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Benefits: Interns are not eligible for benefits including health, dental, vision, paid time off, and paid sick time. Interns receive pro-rated holiday pay during CEBA’s organization-wide holidays.
Educational credit: Eligibility for credit is determined by your educational institution.
Schedule: 20 hours/week. Weekly schedule to be determined with your supervisor, capped at 20 hours.
Orientation: all interns are required to virtually attend two welcome and orientation sessions. Exceptions may be considered after hire.
Content: Interns work directly with CEBA’s programs and quickly become an important part of the team. You work with a Supervisor who guides daily work, and a Mentor who ensures a positive experience and continual growth. Interns will identify 2-3 key objectives which you intend to meet throughout the course of the internship, agreed upon with your Supervisor, to ensure a mutually beneficial internship experience.
