Responsibilities
At the Holcim’s Indirect Tax COE we are opening a position for a (Senior) European Indirect Tax Advisor. The (Senior) Indirect Tax Advisor will become a member of Holcim’s global tax community with a reporting line to the Head of Indirect Tax EMEA based in the Slovak Republic (Kosice). The newly formed Indirect Tax COE is part of Holcim’s Global Tax Organization & Business Services.The department’s responsibilities include indirect tax compliance, technology, controversy and advisory for Europe.
The role is a great in-house opportunity for experienced tax experts interested in working on standalone VAT projects and willing to support the organization with their specialized knowledge and professional expertise.in the field of advisory and controversy.
- Monitor VAT legislative changes in the region, communicate relevant changes to the key business stakeholders, drive changes implementation in SAP (in close cooperation with IT and Global Business Centers)
- Support on VAT settings in SAP in cooperation with IT and the VAT compliance team
- Provide timely and accurate response to VAT queries from the local business / the VAT compliance team
- Assist the VAT compliance team in handling matters that require in-depth VAT knowledge and/or international cross-border knowledge
- Assist VAT compliance team in providing answers to high complex VAT information requests
- Support and lead country tax audits depending on the country, the complexity level and in agreement with the local business finance teams
- Track audits and their progress (central audit repository maintenance)
- Deliver VAT trainings to the Business Centers (or other functions upon request)
- Actively support finance/tax projects that require more in-depth VAT knowledge and/or international cross-border knowledge
- Contribute to know-how development of the VAT compliance team
- Look for improvements in supply chain, identify opportunities and mitigate risks & issues (long term objective)
- Support on legal proceedings, assist in preparing objections and appeals in cooperation with country finance (in limited number of cases)
Education/Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Tax or Law
- Certified Tax Advisor (Slovak / Czech / Polish or a foreign equivalent)
- Alternatively Chartered Accountant with practical VAT advisory experience or in-house VAT Expert with proven VAT and business experience or Big4 experience as an Indirect Tax Consultant
Experience
- Min 5 years of experience in tax audit work (consultancy company or in-house / European Tax CoE)
- Min 4 years of experience as tax advisor (consultancy company or in-house / European Tax CoE)
Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent communication skills across various organizational levels
- Ability to develop strong relationships with key internal stakeholders
- Proactive attitude, reliability, responsiveness & delivery
- Understanding of ERP VAT set up (SAP specifically) will be an asset, but not required
Language Requirements
Fluent English written and spoken (B2 level or higher).
