What you will do:

The internship is with P4G’s Global Hub hosted by the World Resources Institute based in Washington, D.C. You will work with P4G’s Engagement and Partnerships Team. As part of this internship, you will gain experience in international sustainable development, investment impact selection, project management, stakeholder outreach, engagement strategy and event planning, and stakeholder management for a high-profile international initiative involving governments, the private sector, and global NGOs.

You will directly support the Director of Engagement, Regional Engagement Managers, and Partnerships Team with proactive planning and implementation to engage P4G’s network including the P4G Board, partner countries, and global organization partners, and also, represent the Engagement Team on specific projects requiring coordination with other sections. This also includes managing the engagement process of new P4G stakeholders that includes potential new countries and corporate board members as well as national platform members.

Similarly, you will provide active support to the Partnership Team related to the next selection of P4G partnerships and management of the current P4G partnership portfolio. This work would include training material and template preparation, data analysis, transfer and validation, executive notes, and participation in meetings. You will assist the Engagement and Partnership Team in organizing P4G Board meetings, Executive Committee meetings, Partnerships meetings, international mission trips, virtual engagement, and outreach to partner countries.

You will lead logistical and administrative coordination for P4G run events as well as the organizational processes for event participation from the entire Global Hub in external events. You will liaise between teams to ensure this event coordination in addition to tracking mechanisms and areas of joint responsibility such as network communications and partnership management. In this position, you will correspond and interact with government officials from Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Europe as well as global institutions and corporations committed to advancing the green growth agenda through public-private partnerships. You will ensure consistency between P4G’s high-level strategy and day-to-day engagement.

Internship Learning Outcomes:

  • The intern will gain experience in the following areas: Stakeholder engagement: Coordinate communications, meetings, and email exchanges P4G network points including government officials, civil society, and private sector representatives from Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Europe.
  • Support communication with partner countries/organizations to prepare for the board meeting and international events.
  • Schedule meetings to advance P4G network engagement with governments, international organizations, and corporates.
  • Work with Engagement Team to maintain partner network contacts and engagement tracker spreadsheets, and other data management tools as needed. International events, travel, and logistics: Support participation of P4G Network and P4G Hub in international and in-country events.
  • Contribute to P4G event-planning process for internal and external events, and assist with logistics for P4G representation at major international events, including UN Climate conferences, UNGA Climate Week, etc.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, concept notes, talking points, PowerPoints, and other relevant materials to ensure alignment with larger P4G objectives, and coordinate with other teams to ensure a consistent external message.
  • Support participation of the P4G network in international events, including correspondence with the host, all travel logistics, travel systems, visa applications, etc.
  • Participate actively in external meetings, events, and outreach, coordinate mission trips to partner countries, and provide logistical and administrative support for in-person and virtual meetings and events.
  • P4G Governance: Create materials and manage logistics and correspondence for high-level stakeholders, including P4G donors.
  • Prepare materials and coordinate logistics for P4G Board Meetings and Executive Committee Meetings in coordination with the Engagement Manager, including background documents, agendas, presentations, and meeting summaries.
  • Work with Engagement Team to maintain partner network contacts and engagement tracker spreadsheets, and other data management tools as needed. Partnership selection and project management: Contribute to refining, creating tools, and producing templates.
  • Support data analysis, including data transfer and validation within database systems.
  • Develop flow diagrams, workflows, power points, and documents as part of the training material, selection, and management process, as required.
  • Support scheduling and note-taking at meetings.
  • Collaborate on reports, executive summaries, or other documents required to manage partnerships, PM meetings, and reporting processes. Overall support for the mission of the P4G Global Hub : Contribute to cross-cutting projects with other parts of the P4G team that increase efficiency and knowledge sharing, including with Partnerships and Communications teams.
  • Participate in conference calls and meetings to expand understanding of P4G partnerships and the P4G network.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international relations, international development, environmental, sustainable development, management, political science, economics, or related areas.
  • Relevant experience and demonstrated interest in international relations, public policy, and/or sustainable development.
  • Writing, editing and research skills.
  • Experience managing database systems such as Airtable and Excel is a plus.
  • Experience working with international stakeholders and government officials is a plus. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Commitment to P4G’s mission of inclusive green growth and partnership.

Compensation

The pay range for this internship opportunity is between $16-20/hour, commensurate with qualifications.

Length of Contract:

This is a full-time, 6-month internship with a flexible start and end date.

Location:

  • This is a remote-based internship with the option to work out of the Washington D.C. office once it reopens.
  • WRI will provide a laptop for the duration of your internship.
