Electrical Engineering Technician

🇺🇸 Marlborough, MA, US 📝 FULL-TIME 🎯 MID LEVEL

Ambri, an energy startup commercializing an innovative battery technology first developed at MIT, is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician. This position will work on the Engineering Team and report directly to the Engineering Lab Manager, while working alongside leading battery scientists and engineers. The role will be part of Systems Engineering team and/or Advanced Manufacturing Team. In this role you will participate in the early stages of product development. You will be asked to create prototype or early pilot type demonstration units. Advise engineering about design improvement and process steps to enable the creation of a new line of battery systems.

Responsibilities**:**

  • Working with Engineers and other Technicians to produce and test electrical/electro-mechanical assemblies. This includes wire cutting, crimping, soldering, and using other manual tools.
  • Work as part of a team that will create and design new parts and step processes with development engineers.
  • Perform manual tasks in a variety of environmental conditions: occasional use of respirators inside a controlled environment, or working with high temperature materials.
  • Assisting with fabrication/preparation of electro-mechanical assemblies and enclosures.

Requirements**:**

  • Strong communication skills. Ability to follow technical instructions and clearly communicate (written and orally) with Engineers.
  • Experience with electrical test equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, current probes, and power analyzers
  • Must be safety oriented and able to read, understand and constantly follow companywide safety instructions.
  • Experience working with high power electrical equipment, AC and DC voltage and current is preferred.
  • Experience working with printed circuit boards and control cabinet assembly is preferred.
  • Experience with Orcad or Ultium is preferred
  • Must be organized, dependable and possess initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-moving team.
  • Familiarity with computers including MS office (specifically MS Excel).
  • Desire to be hands on with strong attention to detail.
  • Good soldering skills and use of microscope for pc-board rework are preferred.
