JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Sacred Heart Community Service, located in San José, CA, is looking for a dynamic, multifaceted Employment Resource Navigator Specialist. The person in this position must be highly organized and possess exceptional oral and written communication skills, demonstrated track record in implementing diverse, high quality direct service options to the community, and the ability to work flexibly and creatively. In addition, the ideal candidate must be equally committed to our vision of a community united to ensure every child and adult is free from poverty, an approach of driving policy change through transformational leadership development, and teaching and living an anti-racism and anti-oppression worldview.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Case Management (40-45%)
- Connects members with community resources (such as education, income, public benefits, transportation) to assist them in reaching their goals by eliminating barriers to employment.
- Conducts weekly intake and follow-up meetings with eligible members to assist them in navigating needed resources while gaining and/or maintaining employment.
- Creates mutually agreed-upon individual service strategy plans (inclusive of goals) and individual education, training and/or employment plans to address and overcome barriers to employment. (ie. GED, ESL, workforce development programs, certifications, degree programs, volunteer opportunities, internships and on the job training programs)
- Provides instruction on social skills building, employability curriculum, and digital skills through varied modalities: in-person group and individual service delivery, blended learning, and virtual/online methodologies as appropriate.
- Provides explicit guidance and timely responses to interdepartmental staff on processes and procedures for referring and assisting members into Economic Justice Network services.
- Assists in scheduling workshop attendance and enrollment in partnering education/training institutions to enhance job readiness and employability.
- Supports participants in developing resumes, cover letters, and navigating the job application and interview process.
Member Engagement (15-20%)
- Conducts outreach to new and existing members to recruit, welcome, and orient them to the CFET and other EJN programs.
- Responds to inquiries and feedback, promptly and professionally, aiming to exceed member expectations.
- Acts as a reliable point of contact for members, offering guidance and assistance to ensure a positive experience.
- Collaborates with outreach and partner development teams to match participants with suitable program opportunities.
- Holds drop-in member office hours for potential and current members.
- Plans and coordinates bilingual/multilingual outreach to volunteers; organizes volunteer meetings in order to build an effective service and promotes participation and leadership of members and volunteers.
- Conducts community presentations on Sacred Heart CFET skills and training programs to identify members in need of services for improving their employability and financial stability.
Compliance and Quality Improvement (10-15%)
- Conducts intakes and educational/occupational assessments to evaluate participants' skills, goals, and support service needs comprehensively.
- Collects, inputs, and maintains accurate and organized physical and electronic records of member interactions, services, and events into organizational and funder data systems, in accordance with program standards and confidentiality requirements, ensuring relevant documentation and signed forms are up to date.
- Provides analysis of program data trends for success and areas of improvement.
- Monitors and reports on individual members’ progress towards their goals and satisfaction with the program.
- Maintains strict confidentiality agreements as required.
Member Development (5-10%)
- Engages in advocacy activities and mobilizes participation of members in SHCS policy campaigns.
- Conducts member 1:1s for member leadership development.
- Supports development and implementation of regular trainings on various topics, including economic justice, racial justice, power analysis, worker’s rights, resume development, and job search strategies.
- Cultivates the involvement of stakeholders to provide input training and program needs through program advisory committee(s) and supports adapting service delivery accordingly.
- Empowers volunteers and program participants providing clear vision, encouragement, modeling, and training, in alignment with SHCS's vision, mission, and values.
- Oversees daily operations and volunteer activities in the Resource Center, ensuring high-quality volunteer-run workshops that meet program participants' needs.
- Promote leadership and self-sufficiency within a social justice framework.
Leadership (5-10%)
- Supports the planning and implementation of organization-wide programs, events, trainings, and outreach efforts, such as the holiday program, pack-a-back, and solidarity summit.
- Participates in staff meetings, retreats, trainings, and other team and organizational events.
- Represents SHCS in the community through outreach to schools, faith communities, businesses, and community groups.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including support for other Economic Justice Network programs as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/ EXPERIENCE EQUIVALENT:
- Strong commitment to our vision of a community united to ensure that every child and adult is free from poverty
- Demonstrated commitment to strength-based, social justice, and anti-oppression framework
- 2-3 years of experience in program coordination. Experience working in employment services programming
- Proficiency with CRM databases (such as Salesforce), Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- The position is in person and onsite
- The position requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time
- The position also requires computer use up to 4-8 hours per day

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
- Bilingual and bi-literate in English and Spanish or English and Vietnamese
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The Employment Resource Navigator Specialist in the Economic Justice Network Department reports to the Economic Justice Network Organizing Manager.
COMPENSATION:
This position is full-time and non-exempt. Pay is commensurate with experience, from $65,000-68,000.
