EHS & Facilities Assistant

Ambri, an energy startup commercializing an innovative battery technology first developed at MIT seeks an EHS & Facilities Coordinator.

Position Overview

As the right-hand person to our EHS Officer & Facilities Manager, the successful EHS & Facilities Coordinator will bring their passion for safety to Ambri and will be accountable for several department related activities including owning the coordination of EHS training company wide. This hands-on role will care about all things safety and facilities related. Together, the right person for the role will help us continue to maintain a safe working environment through both EHS and facilities initiatives.

Job Duties

  • Support EHS programs to ensure a common and effective approach department-wide
  • Initiate, distribute, present, follow up, and file training program certificates and sign-off sheets for EHS documents and safety module presentations, for inside and outside training
  • Update appropriate training matrixes for safety modules, documents, outside training, other
  • Set up EHS/facilities required training with outside vendors. Place accompanying PO’s
  • Track incident reports and risk assessments
  • Maintain and update all SOP’s to ensure safe work practices and equipment; act as chemical safety coordinator for inventories, SDS management, & hazardous waste management
  • File routine inventories for permit renewals. Maintain documents/permits on-site, in accordance with company procedures
  • Coordinate all waste management scheduling, preparation, communication and pick up
  • Coordinate facility test requirements with outside providers; fire alarm, water shutdown, other
  • Maintain facility drawings
  • Be the preventive maintenance overseer; monitor personnel and workspaces to ensure and promote a safe work environment, equipment, materials, and supplies
  • Identify and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience in safety, health and environmental or in a relevant role requiring similar and transferable skills
  • Associates degree preferred
  • Familiarity with manufacturing work and safety procedures
  • Comfort with enforcing policy, procedures, and programs that are geared toward a culture of safety within the organization
  • Confidence supporting facilities needs
  • Excellent organization and project coordination skills with the ability to effectively adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic
  • Strong collaborative approach
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including progressively expanding Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Visio is a plus
  • Working knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations is a plus
  • Must be able to wear PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety to work shoes)
