Position Summary
IREX Albania is recruiting an Education Consultant to support the development of education tools to help teachers integrate media literacy concepts and materials in the classroom. With oversight from IREX’s project team, the Education Consultant will contribute to the drafting, adaptation, contextualisation, and piloting of several exercises, tools, and examples that will be shared with teachers through IREX’s accredited media literacy trainings. The Consultant is expected to participate in regular meetings with IREX staff and may be asked to facilitate reflection discussions with project participants/beneficiaries. The Education Consultant will primarily support the Learn to Discern Albania (L2D-Albania) Program. The Consultant may support other IREX programs as needed and as agreed upon by IREX and the Consultant.
Project Descriptions
Learn to Discern Albania (L2D-Albania) aims to increase the Albanian population’s ability to navigate today’s polluted information environment by building and testing tools for resilience to mis- and disinformation and manipulative content by developing critical and analytical thinking skills. L2D is improving Albanians’ ability to: differentiate between fact and opinion and recognize objective, fact-based reporting; recognize and reject hate speech and other biased information; verify content validity; and engage in responsible information generation and sharing behaviors.

Duration**: October 2022 – November 2022, estimated 10 days in total. The duration of the assignment and the number of working days may be extended/increased at IREX’s discretion and in negotiation with the Consultant. Candidates must be able to commit to the complete consulting assignment.
Tasks and Deliverables
Illustrative tasks and deliverables may consist of the following and will be completed in close cooperation with the IREX project team(s):
Work with designated IREX staff to develop exercises, tools, and examples to help teachers integrate of media literacy concepts into lesson plans.
Support IREX to contextualize and adapt existing tools as needed.
Organize and facilitate meeting(s) with beneficiaries to pilot tools and exercises.
Support IREX staff in finalizing tools and exercises and ensuring these products align with IREX’s global tools for media and information literacy.
Participate in regular conversations with IREX staff and/or project partners, as assigned by/agreed upon with IREX.
Draft report(s) outlining recommendations for improvement and follow-up project activities.
Prepare presentations on program results and contribute to project reporting and related deliverables.
Other tasks related to the integration of media literacy components in education, as assigned.
These deliverables may be modified with the agreement of both parties if necessary. Specific deliverables will be determined and listed in the consulting agreement.
