JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Sacred Heart Community Service, located in San José, CA, is looking for a dynamic, multifaceted Economic Justice Network (EJN) Program Coordinator. The person in this position must be highly organized and possess exceptional oral and written communication skills, demonstrated track record in implementing diverse, high quality direct service options to the community, and the ability to work flexibly and creatively. In addition, the ideal candidate must be equally committed to our vision of a community united to ensure every child and adult
is free from poverty, an approach of driving policy change through transformational leadership development, and teaching and living an anti-racism and anti-oppression worldview.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Economic Justice Network Program Coordinator supports growth in its programs and operations. The EJN Program Coordinator will have a special emphasis on the foundation’s strategy in its Economic Justice Network priority programs and special projects while providing generalized support to the EJN programs as it expands and grows its operations and activities. This position requires skill and adaptability across several domains, including strong attention to detail, subject matter knowledge, and excellent communications. The Program Coordinator will report to and work closely with the EJN Organization Manager, but will also be expected to be able to work independently. This is an in-person position based in San Jose, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Program Coordination (60%-65%)
●Implements the mission, strategies, and values of SHCS in part by providing volunteers with vision, encouragement, challenge, modeling, training, and empowerment, particularly relative to the delivery of coaching services;
●Coordinates and supervises EJN services and program logistics per project/program assigned (may include: VITA program, Digital inclusion program, Computer lab, Financial Workshops, Silicon Valley Guaranteed Income Project, Employment workshops/services and/or Public Benefits enrollment, any other project);
●Serves as primary contact for EJN services and programs;
●Maintains strong relationships with stakeholders and members in the Economic Justice Network and supports continued engagement through one-on-one meetings, phone calls, emails, and outreach for membership events and volunteering;
●Creates, coordinates, implements, and supports volunteer involvement in EJN workshops and training;
●Adheres to strict confidentiality agreements as deemed appropriate;
●Acts as an Intake Specialist to filter all calls and emails to the right contact and program and follow up on referrals;
●Performs other duties as assigned.
Leadership (20%-25%)
●Supports the core values of the organization by engaging members in our collective efforts;
●Provides support and training in the development of leadership among members and volunteers through program involvement such as co-leading programs and projects;
●Develops and nurtures collaborative relationships with community members, volunteers, partners and coworkers that will strategically position SHCS to build a community united to ensure that every child and adult is free from poverty;
●Supports the planning and implementation of agency-wide programs, events, training, and outreach efforts;
●Represents SHCS through outreach to schools, colleges, faith-based communities, businesses, and community groups.
Coaching and Organizing (5%-10%)
●Implements coaching framework to guide members through a needs assessment and developing an individualized work plan in the area of employment, finance or accessing public services/benefits;
●Assists members to develop support systems by identifying and coordinating a variety of available services necessary to maintain self-sufficiency, family stabilization, and a healthy interdependence with our community. This includes assisting some participants with navigating local resources related to crisis intervention, advocacy, problem-solving, and other appropriate interventions;
●Supports EJN’s advisory and action committees by holding 1:1 with members interested in volunteering, becoming a promotor or participating in a committee as well as supporting all EJN community events.
Administrative (15%-20%)
●Develops, tracks, reports, and analyzes program goals and objectives in accordance with strategic and operating plans, including, but not limited to: intake form, credit report, coach’s appointment notes, analysis, and action plans;
●Maintenance accurate and timely data entry for all assigned programs / services in databases like
Salesforce, VSAS, Google Drive, etc.;
●Works with the Economic Justice Manager to monitor grant requirements ensuring all service delivery goals are met and/or exceeded;
●Supports continuous learning, evaluation, and improvement within the Economic Justice team.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
●Demonstrated commitment to strength-based, social justice, and anti-oppression framework;
●2-3 years of experience in program coordination. Experience working in social services
●programming;
●Some experience with CRM databases (such as Salesforce), Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
●The position is in person and onsite;
●The position requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time, and computer use up to 8 hours per day;

●Must complete a DMV and criminal background check, and qualify to be insured under SHCS driving policy; Have reliable transportation.
●Read, speak, and write in English and Spanish;
●One or more years of experience working in a community based organization, preferably in the field of human services or related fields;
●One or more years of demonstrated success working with and developing leadership among volunteers and/or interns;
●Flexible (able to work some evenings and Saturdays), compassionate, and supportive attitude. Ability to thrive in a flexible, fast-paced environment, while maintaining a positive, solution-oriented approach;
●Required to work during our annual VITA season (which includes some evenings and Saturdays) from
January to April and June to October (subject to change based on program need);
●Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. with assistance and up to 50 lbs. with assistance. The position requires computer use/walking/sitting/standing for 6 hours per

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
●Bachelor’s degree in social work, social science, education, public health, or related field or 2-4 years of equivalent experience may be substituted for a college degree.
●One or more years experience with curriculum training and development preferred.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The Economic Justice Network Program Coordinator reports to the Economic Justice Network Organizing
Manager.

This is an non-exempt position with a starting wage of $27 an hour commensurate with experience.
