Economic Justice Network: Organizing Coordinator
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT & DESCRIPTION
Sacred Heart Community Service, located in San José, CA, is looking for a dynamic, multifaceted Economic Justice Network (EJN): Organizing Coordinator . The person in this position must be highly organized and possess exceptional oral and written communication skills, demonstrated track record in implementing diverse, high quality direct service options to the community, and the ability to work flexibly and creatively. In addition, the ideal candidate must be equally committed to our vision of a community united to ensure every child and adult is free from poverty, an approach of driving policy change through transformational leadership development, and teaching and living an anti-racism and anti-oppression worldview.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The coordinator in this position will provide leadership in SHCS’ efforts to develop and evaluate Sacred Heart’s Economic Justice Network program portfolio. Activities associated with this function include, but are not limited to; completing program outreach and recruitment, managing direct service referrals to partner organizations, fulfilling case management activities, and engaging community members with lived experience in the work of EJN program through leadership development and empowerment. The EJN Organizing Coordinator will be an active thought partner in the program's continued goal of leadership engagement and development within the program. The EJN Organizing Coordinator will contribute to fulfilling the agency's vision and mission
agency-wide, in the Self-Sufficiency Department and Economic Justice Networks. The role requires occasional evening and weekend work. This is an in-person position based in San Jose, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Program Management (50%-55%)
●Lead and oversee the implementation of key initiatives like Guarantee Income Project across various
Economic Justice Network programs;
●Co-Lead and coordinate a committee focused on organizing community-driven actions and campaigns to advance economic justice;
●Support staff in designing and executing discussions and workshops that align with advocacy for social
and economic justice;
●Develop and execute outreach and organizing strategies, including training, communication systems, databases, and strategic plans;
●Track, report, and ensure the achievement of program goals and performance metrics.
●Align staff support and operations with the agency’s broader goal;
●Evaluate community organizing efforts for quality and effectiveness, making recommendations for improvement;
●Develop and utilize program models, work plans, and evaluation tools;
●Engage and retain members and volunteers through workshops and other activities, incorporating educational elements on economic justice;
●Maintain and foster relationships with participants, volunteers, and community partners through ongoing communication and engagement;
●Facilitate workshops and meetings focused on economic, gender, and racial justice.
Leadership Development (25%-30%)
●Lead training and professional development for staff and volunteers in community organizing and mobilization;
●Conduct one-on-one meetings with members and volunteers to deepen their understanding of economic
justice and help them plan next steps in their work;
●Develop and deliver leadership training on topics such as meeting facilitation, economic justice, solidarity building, and the role of race and class in economic systems;
●Support policy research and advocacy strategy development, including collective actions and campaigns.
Administrative (25%-30%)
●Create and implement evaluation tools to measure program outcomes, such as pre/post tests and satisfaction surveys, and report on findings.
●Collect, track, and input program data into agency and funder systems, identifying trends and areas for
improvement.
●Assist in various programs aimed at increasing economic mobility, and provide support across joint sub-programs.
●Participate in agency-wide programs, events, projects, and outreach activities.
●Mediate conflicts among members or volunteers using restorative conversations to move initiatives forward.
●Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE EQUIVALENT:
● Demonstrated commitment to strength-based, social justice, and anti-oppression framework;
●3-5 years of experience in program coordination. Experience working in social services;
●Some experience with CRM databases (such as Salesforce), Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
●The position is in person and onsite;
●The position requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time;
●The position also requires computer use up to 8 hours per day;

Must complete a DMV and criminal background check, and qualify to be insured under SHCS driving policy; and have reliable transportation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
●Bachelor’s degree in social work, social science, education, public health, or related field or 2-4 years of equivalent experience may be substituted for a college degree.
●One or more years of demonstrated success working with and developing leadership among volunteers and/or interns.
●Demonstrated success in organizing, strategizing, implementing, and identifying victories on organizing campaigns.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The Economic Justice Network Organizing Coordinator reports to the Economic Justice Network Organizing
Manager.

COMPENSATION:
This position is full-time and exempt. Pay is commensurate with experience, from $66,500 -
$72,00.
