JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Sacred Heart Community Service, located in San José, CA, is looking for a Full-Time, Early Childhood Education Coordinator - SSL. For over 56 years, SHCS has been one of the leading institutions in addressing poverty in Santa Clara County through a strategy that combines addressing the consequences of poverty through impactful programs while building power with people to push for systemic change.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The ECE Coordinator would support, implement, and lead a volunteer-led 0 to 5-year-old parenting program that is working with parents to share their parenting experiences, learn together, and provide support to one another as they do their best to navigate a system that is riddled with barriers and adversity. The program is offered across Santa Clara County. The Coordinator will recruit, train, and support a group of promotor@s that lead the workshops, ensure that all workshops are evaluated consistently, and work in close collaboration with other programs and department staff to foster community leadership and advocacy skills among identified members.
The ECE Coordinator has five main responsibilities: 1) Guide a Safe, Secure, and Loved - Resilient Families program that is led by community leaders (promotor@s) (2) Train and recruits new volunteer leaders; 3) Support the Early Childhood Education Action Committee comprised of ECE members that work to address barriers to quality education for families with 0-5-year-olds; 4) Support all agency programming; and (5) Develop and maintain partnerships that support the goals of the agency, department, and program.
The ECE Coordinator - SSL-RF will be responsible to do the following. Conduct one on one meetings with stakeholders to build strong relationships to invite members into leadership, integrate a political analysis component to all programming, and use popular education principles to develop leadership and achieve program goals.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Strong commitment to our vision of a community united to ensure that every child and adult is free from poverty.
Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
Two to three years of experience with providing culturally competent support to parents and children in low-income communities.
Excellent public speaking, writing, and communication skills.
Flexible, compassionate, and supportive attitude.
Available upon request. Will include some weekends and evening hours.
Complete a livescan background check.
Successfully passed tuberculosis (TB) test.
Must complete a DMV background check and have a vehicle for off-site meetings for programming and partner meetings.
Qualify to be insured under SHCS’s driving policy.

COMPENSATION:
This position is full-time and non-exempt. Pay is commensurate with experience, from $25 to $30 an hour.
