Two day per week required to work on-site at Sacred Heart Community Service other days work can be remotely available as the position will be primarily based in Gilroy with some periodic onsite events and activities at SHCS in San Jose, CA. Some evenings and weekends may also be required.
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Sacred Heart Community Service (SHCS), located in San José, CA, is looking for a full-time, Early Childhood Education Coordinator for the Safe, Secure, and Loved (SSL) program in the Gilroy region. The ideal candidate must be equally committed to our vision of a community united to ensure every child and adult is free from poverty, an approach of driving policy change through transformational leadership development, and developing programs through an anti-racism and anti-oppression worldview. For over 56 years, SHCS has been one of the leading institutions in addressing poverty in Santa Clara County through a strategy that combines addressing the consequences of poverty through impactful programs while building power with people to push for systemic change.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Early Childhood program Coordinator will coordinate a mutual support network through community-based leadership development programming with promotor leaders in the Gilroy region. SHCS is seeking a qualified candidate who can accommodate flexible scheduling to ensure maximum inclusivity and reach for working families, including Saturdays and occasionally Sundays, and some evenings when recruitment and classes may occur. Responsibilities include working with volunteers, parents, monitoring program goals, maintaining tracking systems, attending community meetings, supporting all SSL communications (i.e., website, social media), and supporting the development of the program. To accomplish program duties, this position will oversee the Safe, Secure, & Loved and Resilient Families Gilroy promotor@s (community leaders) committee, training and recruiting new promotor@s, facilitate classes, and provide linkages to local resources as deemed appropriate.

These priorities may be accomplished through strategic community engagement tactics that have been tested and evaluated by SHCS including, but not limited to: cultivating and nurturing relationships through one-on-one meetings with stakeholders to invite members into leadership, integrating a political analysis component to all programming, and using popular education principles to develop leadership and achieve program goals.

COMPENSATION:
This position is full-time and non-exempt. Pay is commensurate with experience, from $25 to $27 an hour.
