Position Summary

The Development Donor Systems Donor Onboarding Manager manages the onboarding of major gifts and grants, leading coordination of stakeholders across Development and Finance & Accounting to ensure seamless intake of new and existing funding. This includes, but is not limited to, determination and entry of allocations and payments, securing gift and grant agreement documentation in partnership with Donor Relations and fundraisers, reviewing the onboarding process cycle for accuracy and completion, and producing reporting to aid in financial reconciliation. This role also helps with oversight of financial transactions related to special events and other donor initiatives, ensuring they are accurately captured in the database.

In addition, the Donor Onboarding Manager will also assume project management responsibility for ongoing process improvement projects and change management, including documentation, training, and stakeholder communication.

This is a people management role, with a focus on coaching direct reports on their own career development and performance management.

Responsibilities

• Lead onboarding of major gifts and grants serving as the main point of contact and coordinating stakeholders across Development (Major Gifts, Foundations, Donor Relations) and Finance & Accounting departments to ensure seamless intake of funding and review for completion and accurate data entry
• Collaborate with colleagues to guide the donor onboarding cycle process
• Review and report on Salesforce entries for data integrity
• Participate in ongoing reconciliation and year end close processes with Finance & Accounting
• Follow established standards and processes while identifying opportunities for improvement
• Act as a project and change management resource for team wide initiatives and process improvement projects
• Manage and coach direct reports
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

• Commitment to NRDC’s mission and values.
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 5 years of work experience required
• Salesforce experience strongly preferred
• Nonprofit grants management and/or accounting experience preferred
• At least 5 years of Nonprofit Development and Membership experience preferred
• Previous management experience preferred
• Excel experience required
• Excellent communication skills
• Systems based thinking skills
• Project management skills
• Sound judgement and the ability to work autonomously
• Ability to effectively interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. For this position, the salary is $80,000 to $90,000. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer.

Since March 2020, NRDC’s offices have been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. You will be associated with one of our offices, but until circumstances allow us to re-open, we will continue to support NRDCers with remote working arrangements.
