The Century Foundation (TCF) is a progressive think tank on the frontlines of building a fairer and more inclusive economy, one that works for all of us and not just the wealthy few. The newest program at TCF is our Disability Economic Justice team, which is the only project at a U.S. think tank singularly focused on achieving economic justice for people with disabilities more than 32 years after the Americans with Disabilities Act became law.

In April 2022, in partnership with the Ford Foundation, TCF’s Disability Economic Justice team launched the Disability Economic Justice Collaborative—a first-of-its-kind initiative that brings together more than 30 leading disability advocacy organizations, Washington, D.C.-based think tanks, and top research and policy organizations to learn from each other, work in partnership, and apply disability as a lens across economic policymaking. The Collaborative is committed to breaking the persistent link between disability and poverty, and to finally achieving economic security for disabled Americans more than three decades after the ADA became law. Now, our Disability Economic Justice team is expanding, and seeks a Research and Policy Associate to conduct research and support implementation of the strategic plan of the Collaborative. The Research and Policy Associate will work closely with the Collaborative’s three Co-Directors and focus on bringing research and operational support to the work of the Disability Economic Justice Collaborative.

The position is based in TCF’s Washington, D.C. office. Remote candidates will also be considered for this position. TCF offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience as well as competitive benefits.

Qualifications:

• Research and/or policy experience in the area of disability policy

• Strong attention to detail, project management, coordination, and organizing abilities

• Strong writing and communication skills, ideally for both expert and popular audiences

• Strong commitment to progressive policy change, public service, and disability economic justice

• Curiosity and a strong desire to learn

Responsibilities:

• Developing, curating, and writing the Collaborative monthly newsletter
• Carrying out tasks related to a newly established Voices of Disability Economic Justice commentary series, which may include handling pitches, communicating with authors, sending to the editor, and vetting
• Supporting and carrying out core operations of DEJC, including supporting member management, ensuring accessibility at meetings, note taking, and organizing shared drives
• Supporting administrative duties which may include calendar management, email engagement, project management, note taking, and more.
• Conducting policy research related to relevant disability economic justice topics
• Supporting the implementation of the DEJC learning agenda, which may include corresponding with potential speakers, drafting powerpoint slides, developing agendas, and drafting learning materials
