What You Will Do:
As Director of Insights, you'll create a world-class insights team to drive marketplace growth to support our mission to feed people affordably and divert food from landfills. You will report directly to the CPO and take a lead role in the planning, creation and execution of our company's data analytics strategy. In addition, the insights team works closely with the Operations and Marketing teams to drive impact throughout the marketplace.
This role is for you if you enjoy data analytics and strategy, are keen to make a significant impact, and have the analytical, technical, and managerial skills to lead a quickly growing data team. You know how to get things done and can be counted on to execute at a high level while working closely with other departments and stakeholders. You have experience working with leadership teams and have strong communication skills (i.e. explain complex things simply). You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where learning is encouraged, and new ideas are welcomed.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of highly skilled embedded business & product analysts, supporting all areas of Flashfood
- Drive the vision for business & product analytics to ensure we are always learning and improving through shared best practices and a data analytics “centre of excellence”
- Deliver data-driven recommendations and insights in a clear and concise way to all levels, including C-Suite stakeholders, across all areas of the organization and that contributes to the analysis for strategic leadership priorities
- Explore, define and standardize our business and product KPIs and metrics and provide efficient and meaningful reporting capabilities across the organization
- Build our capabilities and process maturity to improve integrity and quality of our data assets through data stewardship, validation and monitoring of our most critical operational reporting
- Organizational advocate for data governance and partner to Information Security, and other teams within the organization tasked to uphold data compliance and integrity
What You Will Need:
This is a new role, and we're looking for someone who can roll up their sleeves and build an unsurpassed data analytics department.
Here’s what you’ll need to get the job done:
- Extensive experience with data analytics, preferably leveraging business and product data in a marketplace or SaaS company
- Previous experience leading teams of 3+, building out data teams with a strong focus on cross-functional collaboration
- Experience using data to drive tangible commercial growth and mobile app development. This includes iterative data collection and storage, hypothesis formulation, algorithm development, data cleansing, testing, insight generation/visualization, and action planning
- Ability to strategize and lead the evolution of our analytics technology platforms and capabilities, while ensuring the technology aligns with our business strategy
- Solid understanding of data science and ML applications with respect to consumer products
- Strong knowledge and technical skills using common data management tools, (e.g. Excel, SQL, R/Python, AWS Redshift, Tableau, etc.)
- Experience with Product event data analysis tools (Mparticle, Indicative, Iterable) and data visualization tools such as Tableau
- Proficiency in quantitative analysis geared towards drawing actionable insights from complex data
- Skilled at explaining and visualizing insights in a way that helps people “get it”
- Commitment to Results: consistently achieves results, demonstrating high performance, and challenging self and others to deliver results
- An empathetic, humble, and collaborative approach to working with colleagues
- Grocery/retail, mobile marketplace, and/or B2B2C experience considered an asset
- Outstanding communication skills and comfortable presenting to executives
- Must be a self-starter, life-long learner and stubbornly resourceful teammate
