About the Job:
Serving as part of the program leadership team, the Director of Housing provides leadership, direction and oversight of New Moms’ housing program portfolio. This full-time position supports the agency’s vision, philosophy and values through the delivery of providing quality services that support best practice standards for services to families experiencing homelessness. The Director of Housing will oversee the program management of our housing portfolio that currently includes a single site 40-unit transitional housing program and an 18-single site permanent supportive housing program. They will champion all New Moms values including our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, in both strategic planning and performance. This position is located at our main office in the Austin neighborhood and spends time at our Oak Park location. Starting Salary: $75,000
Key Job Responsibilities:
Program Director 95%
- Provides leadership and oversight on all aspects of service delivery for the families in 58 units of housing through “best practice” standards for youth and adult led families that centers our work in a housing first approach grounded in our Executive Skills Coaching approach
- Accountable for the hiring, training, and weekly reflective supervision of a diverse team
- Facilitates reflective supervision with Housing Program Manager and provide coaching to help staff grow as professionals and excel in their role in meeting their benchmarks
- Responsible for orientation and oversight of volunteers and interns involved within programming
- Serves as an active member of the leadership team, facilitates staff meetings, and provides professional development opportunities to team members
- As the highest level position located at our Oak Park Housing facility, this position assumes additional facility responsibilities including emergency response, and site liaison between site staff and property management as needed
- In consultation with the Chief Program Officer and Senior Director of Performance Management, oversees the implementation and tracks progress on programmatic plans, quality assurance activities, required reporting, and program outcomes
- Accountable for all internal and external data management training, data entry, and compliance to ensure staff compliance with Agency and funder database requirements checking monthly for accuracy and completion
- Accountable for all continuous quality improvement including bi-annual participant survey’s
- Collaborates with the on-site Property Manager to provide seamless services that support resident’s successful compliance with their lease agreements including eviction prevention services
- Develops formal and informal relationships with community service providers to enhance and expand program capacity and supports permanent housing at program exit including attending Continuum of Care meetings as appropriate
- Participates in departments budget preparation and reviews; responsible for budget implementation and adherence
- Supports Housing Program Manager with the management of the on-call schedule and acts as a back-up on-call staff member as needed
Organizational Leadership (5%)
- Participates in agency and program staff meetings, serving as an active member of the Family Support team, as well as professional group seminars or conferences to enhance professional knowledge and job skills

- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility in the use of a company credit card; Employee must always secure the card, assure all expense are budgeted, pre-approved, and reconciled monthly
- Represents New Moms in a positive and constructive manner in all interactions with participants, staff, board, government officials, funders, and community partners
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Commitment to and passion for the mission of New Moms
- Bachelor’s Degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation, counseling, social work, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, children and families or related human service field required; Master’s preferred
- More than five (5) years of work related experience, preference given for those working in non-profit organization and/or housing programs
- More than five (5) years of experience in supervision and hiring/leading diverse teams
- Strong track record in managing a comprehensive and complex array of projects with intellectual curiosity, attention to detail and a results-oriented approach
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing
- High attention to detail and results-oriented approach to work
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team approach model, taking individual responsibility and autonomy while also working well in roles leading and serving as part of a diverse team
- Valid driver’s license, with safe driving record and valid insurance
- Access to a reliable car required
