Ambri, an energy startup commercializing an innovative battery technology first developed at MIT, is seeking a Director, Business Development, Government Affairs.
Position Overview
This influential role is responsible for leading the business development sales strategy to clients in the Federal Government sector at Ambri. With a network to leverage and expertise in government relations and contracts, the successful candidate will identify, develop, track, and bring to fruition opportunities with key federal agency decision makers. As a thought leader who is keenly in tune with government activity in the renewable energy space, will interact with local, state, and federal legislative bodies and government agencies to represent and protect the organization’s business plans and interests. Responsibilities:
Develop and manage trusted relationships with key agency decision makers and executives to promote Ambri and position the company for wins as we go to market
Deliver effective presentations and proposals that create opportunities for the company’s efforts to receive financing and other assistance from government bodies
Develop and execute business development plans and coordinate efforts to achieve sales and revenue targets
Develop the sales strategy and assist with planning and executing sales initiatives; actively participate in marketing events for lead generation
Support sales forecasting, pipeline, and RFP activities, and provide timely updates
Research and monitor government activities that can affect the organization’s business and clients
Work cross functionally and assist management with strategic planning for known and potential regulatory activities related to the business and industry
Build and foster professional relationships with members of federal, state, and local government entities and agencies
Represent Ambri as a thought leader. Join trade associations and industry committees and seek leadership roles; represent Ambri at industry conferences, tradeshows
Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications and announcements and be the in-house expert surrounding government affairs that impact the company
Collaborate with industry advocates to build areas of common interest
Identify legislative and public policy changes for Executive Leadership Team consideration that would support company objectives and lead actions to achieve such approved initiatives.
Required Skills/Abilities:
BS degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Public Relations, or related; MBA or law degree preferred
10+ years' progressive business development experience working with federal government agencies, relations, and contracts
Strong desire to work with a company to expand a Federal Government business
Possess government contacts at DOE
Proven track record of developing leads, proposal development, and winning contracts with federal agencies
Working knowledge of SBA and FAR rules and regulations
Demonstrated exceptional problem solving and strategic thinking
Exceptional communication skills - listening, verbal, interpersonal, negotiation and written; strong presentation skills
Excellent proposal writing with attention to organization and detail
A clear record of quota achievement with a metrics-driven approach; prospecting and managing pipeline through to a successful close
Proficiency in tracking opportunities and accurate forecasting, monthly/quarterly/annually
U.S. Citizen or approved registered alien
Ability to pass drug screening and Federal Government criminal background check
Ability to travel, which will fluctuate between 25-50%
