Director, Business Development, Culture Change

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Propper Daley, the social impact agency behind the world’s leading changemakers, seeks a self-starter who has worked at the intersection of culture change and philanthropy with at least 7 years of experience and is passionate about making lasting social change.

As part of the Business Development (BD) Team, the primary function of this position is to develop and execute a strategy to build the discipline of social impact culture change through strategic new business partnerships with foundations. Specifically, this position will develop and introduce a new theory of change to Foundations and turn it into a BD opportunity.  For the role,  the position will develop a strategic plan, identify and conduct proactive and reactive outreach to prospective clients, pitch theory of change and PD’s services, manage the development of proposals and contracts, and ensure the smooth transition of new work to the client team.

This position reports to the EVP, Business Development.

Location: Los Angeles preferred.

Key responsibilities include:

  • CREATIVE ENTREPRENEURSHIP:  Work with EVP, Strategy & Marcomm to understand PD’s BD efforts in the Foundation space, emerging theory of change and market opportunity.  With this knowledge and conversations with field leaders, develop a strong case for culture change as a viable funding path for Foundations and showcase PD as a leader in that work.
  • CRITICAL THINKING & PROBLEM-SOLVING: Work with EVP, Strategy & MarComm and larger BD to leverage institutional knowledge, expertise, network, understanding of Propper Daley’s theory of change, services, and capabilities, and market research to develop and execute a long-term executable strategy that creates a profitable line of business with foundations by making a case for foundations to fund culture change work.
  • EXECUTION: Lead the execution of Culture Change sales strategy and develop materials to secure new business and ensure successful long-term partnerships with prospective clients.
  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Set priorities and timelines for the department’s Culture Change work and provide regular reports against work to the department team and leadership.
  • COMMUNICATION: Identify and conduct proactive and reactive outreach to prospective clients and effectively lead the department in all communications with prospective Culture Change clients.
  • LEADERSHIP: Participate in a positive and inclusive agency culture and work environment by building productive and positive working relationships with all team members, clients, and partners. Support the growth and success of the department and effectively manage up to supervisor and leadership.

You are:

  • A STRATEGIC FOUNDATION LEADER: You have at least 7 years of experience managing, building, and leading programs and initiatives at foundations. You not only understand how foundations work, but what they care about, what drives them, and how they talk.
