Development Engineer in pump technology and fluid dynamics

Xylem is looking for a Development Engineer to expand the capacity of the pump technology team. With the Flygt product brand, Xylem’s target is to offer the most energy efficient and reliable pumps and mixers on the market. Are you interested in the opportunity to develop world-leading products in a world-leading company this may be the job for you!

Responsibilities

As a Development Engineer, you get an important role in our product development projects where you have the overall responsibility for the design and performance of our pumps. In addition, you will also have a driving role in our technology development where we strive to reduce the total cost of ownership for Xylem’s customers by innovative solutions in pumping and control algorithms.

The role includes:

• Overall responsibility for pump performance in product and technology development projects
• Detail design of the hydraulic components in rotodynamic pumps using CFD software
• Function verification on pre-series and prototype products in our test lab
• Statistical analysis of performance test data
• Technical support and problem solving in collaboration with our product quality testing, commercial teams, and customers

You will belong to a team consisting of five additional Development Engineers and two Method Developers. The position is located at Xylem's office in Sundbyberg.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have an academic education with a focus on fluid mechanics, either a recent graduate or with a few years of relevant work experience.

You have a high analytical ability, a broad technical interest and a sense of pragmatic problem solving. In our trust-based environment, you will work much under your own responsibility and decision making, but with a solid support from the rest of the team. As a member of a cross-functional project team it is important that you have communicative skills and acts pro-actively to be able to deliver qualitative solutions on time.

To succeed in the role, it is important that you are; confident in your skills, inspired by complexity, and persistent and focused to bring a concept from detail design to approval in the lab testing. We are a non-prestigious team with a passion for continuous improvements and innovation, who strive to help each other to deliver top-class results!

Good knowledge of English is necessary to be able to communicate with your colleagues both locally and globally in the company. Previous experiences of pumps, measurement technology and CFD are considered valuable.
