Development and Operations Intern

Position Overview

The mission of Rare’s U.S. based Development Operations team is to empower our colleagues to spend more time fundraising and communicating Rare's unique value in the environmental space. We do this by providing data and analysis, simplifying processes, and maintaining department systems. The Development Operations Intern will have an opportunity to be part of the team working on a wide range of projects, but with a focus on prospect research and prospect pipeline development.

Core Responsibilities

  • Follow philanthropy news sources for the latest in climate/environment donors and trends and share/archive appropriately
  • Organize donor prospecting projects utilizing SalesForce, Smartsheet, and various online prospect research vendors/tools
  • Assist in donor stewardship tracking and activities
  • Support prospect/donor communication tracking, read/review prospect/donor proposals
  • Support funding allocation logging and reconciliation

Targeted Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Recent graduate or in the process of pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field
  • Interest in conservation/environmental issues / climate change
  • Knowledgeable with Smartsheet and/or Microsoft Excel;
  • A creative, solution-oriented approach to operational logistics and knowledge management;
  • Ability to quickly learn new software and systems, and to creatively explore software capabilities;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Well organized, self-motivated, and able to manage deadlines independently / work remotely;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to execute highly specific tasks

  • To address important environmental issues such as climate change, promoting plant rich diets, overfishing, sustainable agriculture, etc is required. Experience working on these issues is not required
