About the Job

We are currently seeking an experienced environmental data manager/programmer. Candidates must be detail-oriented and able to support scientific and engineering analyses by ensuring the highest level of data quality, availability, and documentation. The successful candidate will have a strong background in database management, programming, and a passion for environmental sustainability. As a Data Manager / Database Programmer, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our PostgreSQL and PL/SQL database systems. As part of our data management and analysis practice you will work closely with our multidisciplinary teams to transform raw environmental data into meaningful information and facilitate informed decision-making by ensuring data accuracy, availability, and performance. You will play a critical role in managing, analyzing, and visualizing environmental data to provide actionable insights for our clients and projects. This role offers a unique blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and hands-on database management and programming. The successful candidate will be passionate about environmental conservation and have strong data management, analysis, and visualization skills.

Responsibilities

As a Data Manager/Database Programmer, your job functions will include, but not be limited to:

  • Acquiring, organizing, cleaning, restructuring, and loading data into relational databases using SQL and other languages and tools
  • Managing data import, export, and transformation processes
  • Summarizing data to support a variety of geospatial, statistical, engineering, and other analyses
  • Collaborating with project teams to understand data requirements and objectives
  • Performing data analysis, statistical modeling, and trend analysis
  • Providing data-driven insights and recommendations to support client projects
  • Ensuring data accuracy, quality, and compliance with Integral’s established standards and approaches
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and ensure data integrity
  • Developing, testing, and maintaining database scripts, queries, stored procedures, and triggers
  • Designing and implementing database models that support the organization's data needs
  • Developing and maintaining documentation related to database systems and models

Qualifications

Candidates should hold an advanced degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of environmental data management experience
  • Proven experience as a database programmer, modeler, or manager
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
  • Experience with data modeling tools and techniques
  • Familiarity with database design principles and best practices
  • Experience with environmental data including field sampling, analytical chemistry data, geospatial data, and GIS systems
  • Experience with either R or Python programming
  • Develop and optimize database queries, stored procedures, and triggers to support data analysis and reporting.
  • Design, implement, and maintain complex database structures using PostgreSQL and PL/SQL is a plus
  • Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS, Azure) is desirable
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar
  • Create interactive data visualizations and dashboards to convey complex information effectively
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Great attention to detail and a determination to achieve accuracy
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A desire to grow both intellectually and professionally
  • Possess strong organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers

Annual Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000

An employee’s total compensation package includes annual salary, company-subsidized (employee and family) medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) participation with a company-match of 1% to 4% of annual compensation, company-paid life and short- and long-term disability, paid sick leave (80 hours per year), paid vacation (15 days), paid holidays (9 days per year), and the potential for an annual discretionary bonus based on company performance. Paid time off will be pro-rated to reflect part-time scheduled hours, if applicable.
