ABOUT THE ROLE

The Data & Alumni Specialist has two main areas of responsibility:

  1. Realize the full potential of Raiser’s Edge and Feathr, primarily for Resource Development and Communications teams and also throughout the organization as the primary Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system;
  2. Support the build and rollout of the alumni strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Realize the full potential of Raiser’s Edge & Feathr

  • The Data & Alumni Specialist possesses a solid technical understanding of Raiser’s Edge (RE) and its use for fundraising, public engagement, donor, volunteer, alumni and other stakeholder relationship management, campaigns, segmentation, tracking and trend analysis.

Data Responsibilities

  • Manages donor, volunteer and alumni and gift data for use in direct response, major gift, public engagement, alumni and volunteering campaigns
  • Creates lists and categories for mailings
  • Researche database for trends and opportunities, creating comprehensive analysis of our data to advance the organization’s objectives
  • Works with Finance to reconcile gifts, provide transaction information and reports, troubleshoot issues and, when required, re-evaluate procedures and systems to improve gift tracking, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Perform all donor database administration and supervisory functions, including database maintenance, duplicate record merging, and clean-up tasks

Alumni Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, update, and analyze volunteer and alumni data to identify trends, engagement levels, and opportunities for targeted outreach.
  • Use data insights to identify and engage alumni interested in joining the Alumni Committee and supporting Cuso’s mission.
  • Generate segmented lists and tailored outreach correspondence to request alumni involvement in the Alumni Strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Engagement team to develop and execute in-person and virtual seminars, networking events, and storytelling initiatives.
  • Administer surveys and feedback mechanisms to gain deeper insights into alumni experiences and strengthen engagement strategies.
  • Identify partnership opportunities with organizations that align with Cuso’s values and could enhance alumni engagement.
  • Support alumni-related research and initiatives that could lead to innovative programming, fundraising, or advocacy opportunities.
  • Assist the volunteer recruitment team in leveraging alumni networks to support new placements and mentoring opportunities.
  • Curate and research alumni stories to be developed by the Marketing & Communications (MarCom) team for impact storytelling and awareness campaigns.
  • Mine data to identify and engage alumni ambassadors who can represent Cuso at events, in media opportunities, or in advocacy efforts.
  • Support event logistics and potential travel coordination for alumni involvement in strategic events, networking, and advocacy.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • 1 – 3 years of Raiser’s Edge use (or equivalent)

  • Good conceptual knowledge of fundraising software systems and donor databases

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills

  • Excellent ability to organize and prioritize, work under pressure, and to meet deadlines

  • Demonstrates strategic thinking and creative problem solving to assist in meeting organizational and team goals

  • Attitudes and behaviours which show respect for different cultures

  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Commitment to Cuso International’s mission and work

  • Ability to work in and across multiple teams in a participatory manner

  • Flexible and able to work in an organization committed to continuous improvement

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Technical project management experience

  • Experience extracting data via queries and reports

  • College diploma in a relevant field will be considered a strong asset
