Instill education is hiring a

Data Analyst

🇷🇼 Kigali, RW 📝 FULL-TIME 🎯 MID LEVEL

Anticipated start: As soon as possible

Location:  Kigali, Rwanda

Instill’s mission is to transform teaching, learning and leadership in every classroom on the African continent. We believe that the greatest levers for change in the education system are teachers and school leaders. We have recently been accredited as a higher education institution in South Africa, and seek to build a team that will change the face of teacher education across the continent. We’re looking for a Data Analyst to join our small and growing team.

What makes you a great candidate?

You are ambitious, hungry to learn and have a deep passion for data collection, data insights, and using data to drive impact. You want to work in a fast-paced business environment and grow with a young organisation that seeks to change the face of education across the African continent. You are excited by the challenge of immersing yourself in new contexts and tackling complex problems. You are not afraid of failure and are driven to improve through robust, data-driven decision making and feedback.

  • Demonstrated commitment to anti-racism, equity, and inclusion
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analysing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, represent and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Strong problem solving abilities, and an ability to throw yourself into new contexts to find creative solutions to challenges
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with SQL databases, MongoDB queries, and Google Data Studio or other data visualisation software is a must
  • The ability to both give and receive feedback

What does the role entail?

We want you to imagine a world where great teaching and learning is taking place in every classroom on the African continent, then build a community of educators and institutions to help bring that about. Having an impact on skills development through online learning and building a virtual community of educators will not be an easy task. As such, you will need to help Instill think creatively and learn from failure in order to be truly successful.

Specifically,  you will:

  • Work with the Country Lead, Rwanda, Programme Team, and a network of partner organisations to build a platform that ensures our programmes are being used and are impacting skills development for educators in our Rwandan programmes
  • Assist the Programme Team in constructing, managing, and collecting data on institution-wide experiments to improve programmatic delivery
  • Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimise statistical efficiency and quality
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities

Do our values resonate with yours?
