The BlinkNow Foundation is a 501(c)(3) based in New Jersey which, through its country office in Nepal, oversees these programs in rural Nepal. Every day we strive to create a sustainable organization working to educate all of Kopila’s children until they are ready to enter the world as happy, skilled, confident, self-sufficient adults. We believe we can serve as a model for quality education in Nepal. We will strive to provide our children with scholarships (should they choose to pursue higher education), the skills required to enter the world as global citizens, and ambassadors for change.
Kopila Valley School (KVS) is a nonprofit school managed by the Kopila Valley Sewa Samaj (KVSS), an NGO registered in Surkhet, Nepal, and funded by BlinkNow Foundation USA to provide world-class education to the neediest children who deserve the best education. Our mission is to change the world by empowering Nepal’s children. We provide our students a free education, educational materials, health treatment and medicine, counseling, and a place to live. With our innovative future program, we strive to provide our children with career guidance, and scholarships for further studies.
About the Role
Children first. The Curriculum and Staff Development Expert works to provide internationally relevant and competitive staff development opportunities and curriculum advancement, particularly focusing on early years education. This role involves worldwide experience and connections, and the primary aim is the improvement of education at KVS. Application Deadline: November 30, 2024
Requirements
Education: Master’s degree in a relevant subject
Experience: At least 7 years of professional experience in an academic setting, prior experience in international school, international experience and global connections, proven experience as a curriculum and staff development.
Other Skills/Qualifications: Good initiator, strong analytical skills, communications skills familiarity with the use of technology in education, and knowledge of child psychology, and best educational practices around the world.
Core Responsibilities
Advance curriculum enhancement in line with the organization's strategic plan.
Review the existing school curriculum and present observations identifying the areas it can be diversified to meet international educational standards.
Build an integrated curriculum that reflects place-based learning, sustainability, and other values of the organization.
Integrate the co-curricular components of health & wellness and mindfulness, enrichment activities, mentorships, community service-learning projects, and sustainability programs in the school curriculum.
Add innovation to the curriculum and pedagogy for students' overall development (such as digital literacy). Using data, inform and improve the teaching methods and curriculum.
Based on observation and reflections, recommend resources required to upgrade the standard of education.
Conduct annual reviews to measure the impact of curriculum and teacher training programs.
Staff Development that results in teacher satisfaction and the students' improved learning outcomes.
Identify training and learning opportunities for the teachers and school leadership based on the observation of the needs at the school.
Ensure the continuous improvement of all pre-K through 12 programs in maximizing student and teacher achievement.
Provide capacity building for both the principal/VP and teachers through continuous professional development workshops and training and provide external opportunities when they are relevant.
Run an ongoing teacher training program for all teaching staff and support the onboarding program for all new teachers.
Responsible for the long-term progression of staff training, resource management, and educational development, especially focusing on curriculum.
Participate in the performance review process and provide reviews and constructive feedback related to the performance of the school leaders, HODs, and teachers.
Support the learning and setting quality standards of KVS.
