Like all roles at Textile Exchange, this role will be primarily home-based; Textile Exchange is a US-based but remote-working organization with a global team. Candidates must be available to work across European and US time zones.

Job Summary

The Corporate Communications Manager will provide organizational support that ensures both internal and external communications reach Textile Exchange’s audience in a way that is timely, branded, engaging and in compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements.

The Corporate Communications Manager will play an important and leading role in helping Textile Exchange protect and build its reputation, while proactively supporting the communications team to help achieve our mission of inspiring and equipping people to accelerate sustainable practices in the textile value chain and to, ultimately, protect and restore the environment and enhance lives.

Duties and Responsibilities

Communications Dissemination:

  • Leading the , implementation and success measurement of a comprehensive, proactive corporate communications programme that promotes Textile Exchange’s key corporate messages, supports the overall strategic aims of the organization and brand identity.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as public relations, content, and HR to ensure consistent and aligned messaging.

  • Support the communications team with the creation of positive business announcements and creative partnerships and campaigns, with a focus on Textile Exchange’s suite of Standards.

  • Identify new and interesting opportunities for Textile Exchange to build its corporate reputation in global media and build relationships with a network of journalists.

  • Create proactive high-quality briefing materials to support the CEO, Executive Team and the Board with media interviews and meetings, and all corporate-related internal briefing documents.

  • Manage and coordinate critical communications for all external and internal stakeholders’ holders in crisis and issues management, developing proactive strategies to mitigate potential reputational risks.

  • Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on communication-related matters and advising on best practices.

  • Developing and implementing measurement and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in corporate communications (in-house/agency), working in standards or a related organisation.

  • Experience dealing with issues and crisis communications, including proactive communication guidance for executive team, the board, internal team, and key external stakeholder for critical issues.

  • An in-depth understanding of the media with an excellent antenna for successful stories and a desire to work on topical impact issues which are at the top of the news agenda.

  • A track-record of landing positive corporate coverage in global media and building successful campaigns which have made a genuine impact.

  • You will be comfortable in communicating complex and sensitive issues to multiple senior partners, stakeholders (NGOs, brands, producers and supplier) and media.

  • You will bring an existing network of media contacts to the role.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Four-year college or university degree preferred.
  • Excellent editing and writing skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Computer skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PPT).
  • Highly organized and dependable.
  • Display the ability to work independently, take initiative and personal responsibility, and be accountable.
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work with limited financial resources (experience working in a non-profit is a plus).
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines, while maintaining great attention to detail.
  • Cultural sensitivity – able to communicate well with people from different parts of the world, able to manage difficult personalities, sensitive to differences in communication.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate time zones and project deadlines.
  • Experience working remotely and using various digital communication tools is a plus (Zoom, GoTo Meeting, etc).
  • Interest in working for an ethical non-profit is a plus.

Employment Package

  • Reports to: Communications Director

  • Full Time Position, 40 Hours a Week

  • Location: Virtual/Remote

  • Annual Salary Range: 62,000 - 94,000 USD

  • To be filled as soon as possible (start date to be agreed between both parties).

  • Our offers for salary and benefits are dependent on the region of the final candidate. We post most positions based on a US-based Team member, but final offers are made in alignment with the final candidate's permanent residence and in line with Textile Exchange's regional employment package.
