Purpose of the position
The Coordinator, Project Accountant will have key relationships with Projects Managers, with the finance and development teams based in Nigeria and other countries. This position will have line management responsibilities for other staff, however will be actively involved with the coordination of the work of the Associate, Project Accountants and Interns.
What you’ll do
**To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned:

- Maintain accounting books for multiple locations for complete accounting cycle; processing of accounting transactions in accordance with general principles of accounting and eHA policies and procedures, and preparing appropriate documentation of journal entries, payment requests, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of cost-effective and efficient systems (including accounting software) and procedures with strong internal controls
- Check and process vendor/supplier invoices related to the assigned portfolio. Ensure incurred costs are allowable, allocable, and reasonable in accordance with donor cost principles and eHA policies and procedures.
- Match purchase orders with vendor invoices and check supporting documentation to ensure accuracy of information and correct use of project codes
- Prepare and analyze various monthly financial reports
- Support finance team for prepayments and advances retirement of the assigned portfolio
- Support finance team for the month end schedules of multiple locations
- Prepare robust forecasting of assigned projects in alignment with project work plan and donor approved budget
- Track project expenditures against budget line items for the assigned portfolio and work closely with Finance Manager to prepare commentary on budget variances for projects portfolio on a monthly basis
- Share weekly expense trackers for assigned portfolio with the Project Manager and manage communication about any queries raised
- Prepare monthly expense reports and other reporting requirements and assist in submitting them to the donor within the designated time period
- Assists with the preparation and administration of the project budgets.
- Preparing other financial and cost accounting reports, operations and analysis under the guidance of the Finance Manager
- Provides financial information to banks, insurance companies, and outside auditors, in a timely manner.
- Assists with project related inquiries for the annual audit and works with the Finance Officer and Controller to prepare schedules and respond to questions;
- Performs any other duties assigned by the Manager, Finance.
- May frequently travel between eHA worksites and locations.

Who you are
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to successfully perform this job.
- B.Sc. degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field and professional certification is required Master’s degree is an added advantage
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting/finance preferably with a non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO).
- Must have the ability to manage conflicts and resolve problems effectively.
- Knowledge of and experience with financial systems' software.
- Demonstrated experience working in a team of finance and accounting professionals to provide financial analysis, accounting, bookkeeping, or other related support
- Demonstrated successful experience contributing to multiple projects and managing multiple priorities
- Project Level Financial Reporting and strong Analytical skills
- Non-profit Budgeting and Forecasting Skills
- Project Level Variance Analysis and Budget Commentary
- Record keeping and Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Proficient in ERP usage
- Understanding of accounting standards in non-profit business contexts.
- Must understand accounts payable, receivables and be able to work effectively and efficiently in the organization's accounting system. Must have a grasp of basic accounting terminology and have worked with budgets, forecasts and variance reporting.
- Good knowledge of financial management and accounting and budget holding principles.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to work independently and comfortably coordinating multi-country staff.
- Organizational skills and great attention to detail. Must be able to work as a leader and member of a team and possess good problem-solving skills, emotional intelligence and relationship management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask and work independently.
- Must have the ability to manage conflicts and resolve problems effectively.
- Good learning ability. Action oriented and resilient in a fast-paced environment
- English is the spoken and written language. Fluency in French and German will be an added advantage.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or government regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. English is the spoken and written language
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from executive and senior managers, employees, the general public and clients/partners
Certifications and Licenses
ACCA, CFA, ACA, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), ICAN or equivalent is desired
